My D3 HSE is an early 2006 model and BT has worked perfectly with every mobile that I have owned including three iPhones. I have the iPhone4 now. I had no problems with any of the mobiles connecting and never had to enter the code or manually pair them after initial setup (with the old BT module).
On the downside my BT module was too old to accept the the update for the phonebook transfer BUT I solved the problem by having a new module installed. Works a treat now and I am very happy. 2000 Discovery 2 Kent Green (totaled) R.I.P.

If i did need a new module installed how much would this cost and what does it involve ie time, expertise, availability/locality etc?

Yes wiggs you are correct. The dealership claimed that they tried installing the update and it would not take. Either they did not know what they were doing or they wanted to wring some more $$$ out of me. As for me I did not know any better. 2000 Discovery 2 Kent Green (totaled) R.I.P.

The new module cost me $416USD including installation. I'd suggest talking to wiggs as he knows what he's doing and he could install the update on the older modules. In any case mine works now so i am grateful for that.
good luck and have a happy new year!
I forgot to add that the new modules are getting hard to find or at least that is what I was told. My dealership installed it but I do not know how long the job took. 2000 Discovery 2 Kent Green (totaled) R.I.P.

"LandRover" in BT scan results on iPhone 4 |
|
Just bought an 05 Disco 3 HSE and attempted to pair with iPhone 4 (5.1.1).
First checked compatability with http://www.landrover.com/us/en/lr/owners/bluetooth/overview/ site and all showed good for my VIN. Site states Software Version: 4.2.1 and fully compatible with iPhone. Followed instructions will no success.
On the iPhone when I switch off BT and trun on again to be discoverable and to scan devices it does not show "LandRover" in scan results and hence cannot pair.
Open to any suggestions. From instructions, looks like there is no action from vehicle for pairing and all is performed by handset.
Vehicle originally was in Japan before NZ.
Instructions:
Select "Settings"
Select "General"
Select "Bluetooth"
Set the Bluetooth to ON
Select "LandRover" from the scan results
Enter PIN 2121
Select "Connect"
Phone button on vehicle just states No Phone Fitted error
