pressing PROG (defrost) and allowing fans to switch before switching off engine and ignition seems to help with the fans and burn. There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song

Would do if could coax the fan controller into life
With red and black bridged at the GSM end (i.e. powering the fan controller) I get a light "thud" from somewhere behind the dash (screen air door motor in operation?), but no fan action - will have a play with the adjuster and see if I can get some life. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Martin,
yes you have to turn the potentiometer several turns, back and forth, till you hit the right spot, don't be afraid to keep turning.
Once they start then is just a matter of setting them as you like.

I found it best to turn one way about 6 full turns then slowly turn back the opposite way and it will spring in to life, Once you have the fans running you can set the pot to your liking.
Also I have got in to the habit when its really cold to set the manual air vent buttons to screen and foot well before I power down my car then the IPCU according to Daniel will freeze the flaps and vents in this shut down position, I find this way you get a good flow of air to both and it melts all the ice from the screen, including the side windows of the front drivers and passenger side.

D4JWW wrote:Thanks Ceekay, Flack and Martin, with the green wire connected via switch to 12V would one be able to start the FBH independent of outside temp? Obviously the burn time would be affected by the outside temp, surely the original timer/remote setup could start the FBH independent of temp.
Slightly of the topic I have been studying the wire diagram of heated front seats any thoughts on how to get them heating without the hvac switches surely one can't just ad 12v to the heating elements?
Yes bud it just runs the set time in the GSM, the fans will cut in the set time as well, I just put a flick switch that lights up green on the centre consul, on the little panel you flick open to get at the EPB emergency off pull cable, you can then just switch off if you don't want a full cycle and the FBH will shut down in sequence.
I have been pondering the heated front seats, but I think a separate relay might be the way to go on this. Would need someone more in the know with the electrics to answer this one.

Hello everybody,
As I understand it the GSM box has a function that sends a text when the cars alarm goes off.
Did anyone join the wires yet?
Where do you get an "alarm" feed from?
All the Best!

I'll be starting this even in the height of summer just to get my money worth!
BTW my battery was flat this morning! My monkey needs a good spanking! Loving the power of the TDV8!
