I cannot believe that some of you still have not received your kits, it has now been a month. Hopefully you won't have any problems with your kits. arhrrs

Hi guys
Ive got 2 or 3 hours spare in the morning so thought i would try and get the jump on it tonight and strip it down and try and install the fbh wire. Managed to do that but its all a learning curve i suppose when you havnt even taken the panels off before. Managed to loose 1 of the metal clips on the drivers side hinged knee panel. Seemed to of broke the flap on the cigarette lighter cover? Have had a quick play but cant get it to stay up. The worse bit was had to move the car a couple of foot to shut garage door but it wouldnt start without reconnecting the hvac which surprised me. Anyway all stripped and waiting for me now hopefully will be able to connect it in the morning? Have also soldered extra wire on the end of the orange and green at the gsm in order to get perm live to orange and a switch for the green wire. Not added to the blue think its something to do with alarm so dont know if it is of any use to us? I take it i just take another live feed to the green wire for the switchable option? Doesnt seem much room for the small fan control unit behind the hvac but i take it does fit? Any final advise would be greatly appreciated.

Yes bud the feed for the green if you are thinking of a switch later, there is plenty of room behind the HVAC panel for the ipcu but solder all the wires from the ipcu to the HVAC as this makes a smaller bunch on the main plug to the HVAc panel.
Alos have a good look around the pedals as your small metal clip will be there somewhere.
good luck...

Will do pal was planning on soldered joints with heatshrink over so hopefully should do the job. Just thinkin though i will now need 3 perm live feeds 1 for red/white 1 for orange and 1 for the overide switch so to speak. Do you think it will be okay to take all 3 from the cig lighter?

Yes you will be fine as they are not drawing much current and the cigar lighter supply can handle that ok.

I would say the cigar lighter ignition switch wire and the wire going to the FBH is the hardest part of the job.
I found it easier to take the ignition switch power from the cigar lighter that is in the back of the console, the one in front of the rear seats.
That panel just pops out easily and it takes only a few minutes to lay a fully invisible wire from there to the back of the hevac panel.
Applied the berndv method as the front cig lighter was difficult to remove. So, if there is a 12 v socket in front of the rear seats consider using that.

Okay guys
Wired it in this morn and ive just got back to run a few tests. Bit strange because just been adding my overide switch as i ran the wire in from the cig lighter this mornin along with the red/white and orange from the gsm. Thing is the switch didnt work? I ran another what i thought was a perm feed from the cig lighter to the green of the gsm but discovered that both my cig lighter sockets are not perm live and that you need key position 2 in order for them to work? It all seems to work fine when you phone it so i can only sumise that the red/white is not the feed and just part of the process as is the gsm orange as they are both connected to the none live cig lighter and it all works fine? Just need to find a feed that is perm live now for the optional switch? The load seems quite heavy on the. Battery though with 4.5 amp on startup droppin to about 2.5 once the fbh is running a couple of mims but then jumping to about 5 to 7.5 amp once the fans are kicked in at less than half speed? Anyway any coments in respect of tge above would be greatly apreciated.

Don't set the fans to run to fast as it will have a cooling effect on the heater, I found it does not need to be set to high to get the inside of the car warm and melt the ice from the screen, as a rough estimate I set my fans to about two notches speed wise that the manual fan speed button would give.
I thought last night when I read your last post that you knew that the cigar lighter is only live when the key is in position 2, but you got there in the end.
I think the red/white wire closes the vent flap so cold air is not drawn in, because if you disconnect this wire and run the FBH through the GSM you get cold air all the time, as I found out when doing a test last week in -6, it was very cold inside the car because I had disconnected the red/white wire.

Should i say good morning to you.
Thanks pal but hadnt realised that last night so ran a feed from here for the switch. Anyway sorted now i have used the permanent feed to the fridge and fused it at 5amp between here and the switch. Wheres it pickin its live up from then? I can now ring it to start stop or just switch it on. Would say the fbh fired bout 7 out of 10 times which alot better than the 50/50 it did on just auto in the cold. Noticed it doesnt start up the rear aircon i wonder if you could add it on? Mind you the amount of power it is drawing prob better off without although have got an aux batt now but needs connecting. I wlll need to be carefull using this mod at first cos have already got a power drain that i havnt traced yet. Using about 0.8amp when fully asleep and i was told it should be about a quarter of that? Anyhow it works gud got the fans set about the equiv of 3 or 4 lights on the fan speed knob i would guess. Lets hope battery isnt flat in the morn so i can give it another whizz. Come on snow?
