Fuse out trick only seems to work if you have the oval timer fitted, - instant flame button.

FBH only works sometimes, must be the coldest engine Land Rover has made since the TDI300. It is a 2.7lt in a D4 commercial. It even needs heated in the summer, well September, in Scotland. Terrain Response seems to default back to normal road use as well when the engine is switched off. Doesn,t always probably 80% of the time. The radio plays when the doors are unlocked even although the radio is switched off. Land Rovers, I love them. LR owner for 32 years.
Happy Christmas, Geo.

Better to struggle with electrics AND have grip, then NO electric problems and NO grip!
Terrain Response: only GGS stays in the memory, the other programs disappears after a certain period without key in ignition. Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE java black (in Europe)

After weeks of worrying it's minus 2degs this morning so I thought I'd see what.s wrong with the FBH. Didnt work so started re-reading this post and then saw that the heating needed to be on (auto)... had it off so tried again and hey presto it fired up straight away. The FBH exhaust got hot very quickly (burn fingers testiment to that). So the cabin heating definately needs to be switched on for the FBH to get the signal.

My fbh seems to be having a mid life crisis i think. Worked fine for the last couple of years but since the latest cold snap it giving me plenty of hassle. I was havin to start it manually a couple of weeks back by removing fuse and then blowing down the air intake whilst it was firing which seemed to do the job. I also added an injector cleaner into the diesel which was suggested online. After starting the fbh like this probably 20 times it began starting itself on most occasions. Just when i thought the problem was sorted i went and topped my fuel up and im back at square one it seems? I put the injector cleaner in as last time but im having to start it manually again now dont know if its related to the new tank of fuel or coincidence? The heater always tries to start up and actually fires with smoke and everything but always seem to blow itself out after a few seconds. Obviously then its remove fuse and start again and hopefully it takes second or third time. So basically dont know where to go with it now so any advice woul be greatly appreciated as im fed up of opening the bonnet every time i go out! Winge over

Well on uk spec vehicles the exhaust oulet is towards the passenger side inner wheel arch but yeah whitish smoke that smells abit like diesel is just your fuel burning heater starting up as it should at any temp 5 degrees and below.
No need to worry if this is the case
