doubledoom, chalky,

When you shut the engine off and the FBH is still running, then it will continue running for 30 seconds or a minute until it purges the fuel from the lines.

The noise that it makes is from the burner, but also from the electric water pump that it uses to circulate to coolant around the engine. If the engine is off you can just about hear it (like a quiet version of a jet turbine), but it's almost impossible to notice when the engine is running.

Both the running-on and the noise are completely normal Thumbs Up

The white smoke is dependent on the outside temp and humidity levels - sometimes you'll see it, sometimes you won't Thumbs Up

Ah but the thing is i'd just completed a 170 odd mile trip from London !

Without stopping !
Whats all that about ? surely the heater would not have been running all the time ?

The temp was a steady 4 sometimes 3,2 & 1 deg !

Not good !

Why isn't it good? Question

At those outside temperatures (i.e. < 5°C) it's possible that the engine coolant never got above 75°C in the first place.

It is also possible that it did, but then dropped again when you left the motorway and lowered your speed closer to home, thus triggering the FBH again.

The TDV6 is a difficult engine to keep warm and as with most modern diesel engines, when they are cold they are very inefficient (high emissions and poor fuel consumption).

The FBH is a great piece of kit (when working Mr. Green ) and will pretty much take care of itself...as long as you notice it switching on now and again in the winter, then you can pretty much forget about it and just let it decide when it wants to turn on and off.

The burner has I think 3 settings, when the coolant has reached temperature the burner reduces by a third, and then drops again to its minimum setting,

Can anyone confirm that if my FBH is locked out any of the following will reset it:-

-Remove the power connector to the FBH once the vehicle has gone to sleep
-Plug in a FaultMate and clear the fault
-Take it to the dealers and pay them to clear the fault

Mine has locked out (I'm yet to get chance to plug in the Webasto diagnostic software but the symptoms are obvious!) and I want to get it back working...

Thanks,

Matt

Oh, I just read it for myself...

"The error lockout mode can be cleared using T4, or by disconnecting the battery power supply
(connector C0926) for a minimum of 10 seconds."

All except the first one ... As it actually generates a fault when you unplug it

That part in the LR document is wrong

Oh Sad - what fault does it generate? Is it a fault in the FBH memory or one in the rest of the vehicle?

I was hoping to get the damn thing unlocked...

...maybe I just need a new one?

From a previous very interesting post by Iannp

"It is worth pointing that the FBH errors are logged in Non-Volatile memory withing the FBH, so disconnecting the power for any length of time in any kind of order will only log up more errors and not clear them. Even if it does say in the Land Rover information that it is in Voltalie memory!"

So, repeated disconnecting (to clear faults logged in the FBH) whilst clearing faults held on FBH, will actually log faults on the vehicle. Is there a limit to how many 'disconnecting' faults held on the vehicle there can be before the vehicle will decide not to start the FBH (even if there are no faults stored on the FBH)?

Thanks

IanNP - I see the Webasto program has a "Clear Faults/Heater Interlock" on the Faults menu - did this work for you without having to go to the dealers or buy a FaultMate to clear it down?

Did you ever get your webasto timer fitted to your FBH?
