I thought that too. I expected them to be a little bit wimpy when I saw the pictures, but now having got them on the car, they are far more aggressive than I expected. AND.... they work well!! It's a win-win situation! One thing I can't get over is how quiet they are! Being so aggressive and all, yet they are quieter than the scorpions I took off!!D3 TDV6 HSE 2008 Buckingham Blue (current)

We have put another 100+ on back order, with luck the end of the month.
I am so pleased you are liking this new tyre, I have 100% faith in this one along with all the General range.
Andy.

Andy, please don't take this the wrong way, but can you please give us any indication as to the construction of these tyres?
Is there anything at all that could convince us that they are any stronger than the AT2s in the sidewall area, and how the match up with the likes of the Pirelli ATR or Conti Cross Contact AT in this respect?
As I said, please don't take it the wrong way, but these questions seem to be being avoided somewhat.
Cheers,

And for the moment, I aint buying them on the say so of the seller and members that are using them on Tarmac and neatly cut lawns.
No offence, but my Winter Purchase needs to be able to cope with the Snow we experienced recently and Heavy Standing Water with occasional mud. I work rediculously early and normally the only car on the road at 2am cross country, my old MTR's coped brill and so far I aint a beleiver

I can't answer construction questions, but remember those tyres are not available in the 19" size, so this is actually the only All Terrain tyre available for 19" rims. Even the ATR is a heavily road biased tread pattern. Ths one is surprisingly chunky. BTW, what is a Pirelli AT2?!D3 TDV6 HSE 2008 Buckingham Blue (current)

Hang on Mac - let's not try and compare apples with pears....
If you want off-road, then there will be no comparison between an ATR/AT and the MT/R....it's a different tool for a different job.
It does look slightly more aggresive than the Pirelli ATR, but then again so does my cheese grater That is the cool thing about the ATR - it looks fairly innocent, but works very well and is strong enough to withstand some abuse.....that last bit is something that the AT2 certainly wasn't quite as good at as it should have been. My questions are aimed to find out if this issue has been fixed by General with the new AT or not.

A Pirelli AT2 is a typing mistake
Fixed it Cheers! 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

Yes Paul, my mistake in phrasing.....What I meant was that my old MTR's coped brilliantly in the adverse weather, and deep mud n ruts, but too aggressive on a day to day commute and ambleing about.
...I want a Tyre that will cope with the Same weather, and stand upto itself if I venture onto the dirt....

Mac, I'm a working bloke with a working car on my farm in rural 'nowhere' Wales, where we had 9" of snow this year for 3 straight weeks in one bout, and my car is a hard working vehicle, towing and working in all conditions. Tyres are a VERY important decision for me, and part of my livelihood. It's also my family car, so it has to be able to cope with the motorways, otherwise a Mud Terrain would be my choice for a working vehicle, as with you. You are welcome to come see my 'neatly cut lawns' any time you like. Fact is I don't even own a lawn mower, so technically you'd be more correct to say 'neatly grazed lawns' We aren't trying to upset you, and we're sorry if our reviews don't meet your expectations, but those of us who have actually tried them, are sharing our opinions with those who are interested, which judging by how many folk have viewed my gallery so far, is a lot. You can't fault us for that That is what this forum is supposed to be for, helping each other out, not being down on each other D3 TDV6 HSE 2008 Buckingham Blue (current)

I haven't tried ATR's yet myself, but I have never had a single puncture or sidewall damage on my AT2's in 8 tyres, but I have had numerous punctures and shredded 2 sidewalls on my 2 sets of Scorpion Zero's. Time will only tell how I get on with the new AT's.D3 TDV6 HSE 2008 Buckingham Blue (current)

redjelly, I need to re-address my response..........Maybe I am expecting answers too quickly, and the need for a Winter Set is desperate. Its like waiting to make the correct decision, as the tyres will last me several winters I want to make the correct one..

Agreed

See - your lawns must be really neatly mowed to get away with that
Seriously though, I don't think that you would be stressing the sidewall with the farmyard type work you describe - you will need traction and you'll give the tyres a good work out, but are unlikely to be flexing the sidewalls, running low pressures or rubbing up alongside rocks and other obstacles during off-road jaunts.
Again, please keep coming with the feedback 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG
