Thanks again. Im going to have a go this weekend. Just another quick question first. I have read that you can programme the land rover button on the key fob to do things like turn on lights and open the tailgate. I wondered if this would check if my key fob battery is ok, or does the signal still go via the receiver in the head lining? I think I know which, but I will try it tomorrow anyway. I think I have to hold down the land rover button on the key fob and open the tail gate at the same time. The car is supposed to bong to show it has worked.

The splice works!!!! Yeah!!!
Only problem now is I can't get the long trim back in that goes on top of the loom. Is there a way that will help me? It needs to push under the lugs on the base of the car, I've been trying for ages....really struggling.
Julie
10 minutes later and some perseverance and its done!
I'm really grateful for all your help. Ive just got to glue my spare key fob back together again now.

Welcome Rob!!
I think the board is very sensitive to pressure. What worked for me was placing a piece of cardboard between the battery and the case. If that doesn't work you could try carefully re-soldering the battery. At least you know the problem is with the fob and not the loom in the sill.

Same here, my fobs have a thick piece of card in them to alleviate this.

ok what now?

Hello gents
I have been looking through this thread as my keyfob has failed. I got the wiring loom exposed by the passenger door and thought I found the 3 way splice mentioned. (3 green + white wires spliced together). Cut it out and whilst prepping to resolder noticed the motor on the electric seat sounded like it was clicking on and off. disconnected the wires and confirmed it was the power to the seat, not the key fob reciever.
That joint is now resoldered and the seat works but I could not find the fabled 3 splice green wire mentioned on here.

In addition after putting it all back together I now have an airbag warning light on the dash.

What next?

BINGO !!!! Razz , this was exactly my problem, both keys just suddenley stopped working, one of my green and white wires had snapped off, so now soldered back on.

More concerning is that there is water in there, how can one stop this, I don't use the car off road ????

remotes green wires splice

I too have water in the sill; the whole loom was sitting in it. I dried out the sill and loom and will now wait to see if in drying it futher allows it to work again. I located a green white wire but not the splice. All functions are working with no messages except the key fob. I'll let you know......

Must say that since this water bailing exercise and widening the drain valve by the wheel arch at least everything has been good in this respect but it was shocking to see the whole loom floating in water. The splice of the three 3 wires was separate from the main loom and half way down the door frame before the b pillar

Remote locking from key fob

Hi. I wanted to say thanks for this info, just found the wires nearly missed them, cut of the heat skink and re-soldered them. Great all working. Thanks again.
Oh I had a flood where the wiring loom is. Next job sell the car or fix the leak. Very Happy Very Happy

Good to see members getting this problem sorted - I did mine three years ago and still dry as a bar in Dubai.

I opened it up a couple of weeks ago as key fob stopped working and I feared a recurrence. But all dry, so battery in fob. Instead of fiddling aroung with soldering iron, i sent it to these guys:

http://www.keyfobrepair.co.uk

£30 inc P&P and I had it back in 3 days. Now working perfectly.

Remote central locking not working

Hi all

I've had the problem of the remote central locking not working as per earlier in this post, I've found the corroded three green and white wires and re-soldered as per instructions in this post, thanks everyone who has contributed to this post and it's all now working fine.......

I also found some water in the cable channel and I have mopped this out. I have checked the sunroof drains and it's not this (I have poured a load of water in the sunroof channel and it has drained out of the wings, I've also done the wing/valve modification as I did have problems of the shower in the front👍).
I am now on the hunt where this water that's in the channel is coming from, it doesn't seem to have come back since pouring a load of water down the sunroof drains.

Where could this water be coming from, any ideas??? I don't use the air conn much I did read some problems with the drain on this?????

I have left the channel open to see if the water comes back in the next few days.

Anyone else had this???

Best wishes mallo
