Thanks. I had a look at my Dad's FFRR today which as front and rear lamp guards fitted and it is the same principal as my Defender where you can see the bolts and when trying to remove them they will just spin round and round, so the fact that they are hidden is a bonus.
One last question, if I get the Land Rover spot lights as in the picture of the Stornoway D3, can these then fit onto/underneath an A-Bar? Also, will the lights match the colour of the xenon headlights?

The bulbs in the standard LR kit are 55W Halogen if I remember so they won't match the bluey purple glow of the xenons, however 100W Ice Blue Halogen bulbs make a nearer match and aren't massively expensive, 'for off road use' only of course.
I had mine fitted (to bumper) by TFC and have the switch located inside as in a previous picture, it's always turned on and I flashed a traffic car out of a junction the other day with no issue, find they are great for encouraging line 3 hoggers to shift too which is a bonus. I think your right that when fiutted to an A bar they fit to the underside of the top horizontal bt someone will confirm I'm sure.
This talk of spotlights reminds me, need a new lens assembly for one of them thanks to some bloody rock!Errr, ummm, maybe...oh bo**ocks, just do it !

Well you could use same bumper but behind A bar their would be the outer edges of two rather large holes and it looks S T EDIT= that's if you used Land Rover bumper mounting brackets

Is there any realistic way of mounting lights in front of the grill (and without an A bar) that doesn't require drilling holes in bumper or anywhere else that's obvious? (i.e. Basically so you can cleanly remove at a future point without remedial work)
Since fitting, I have moved the metal plate (last picture) back a bit.The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
