Mine has done the same on a couple of times. Don't just try and slam it, put your hands on the bonnet over each catch and shut it down. It works for me

Mine went through a spate of this recently, repeated slamming and/or bouncing on the bonnet when closed seemed to solve it!
Also remember reading on here somewhere before about greasing up the catch.

Put grease or copper ease on both catches it made a of a difference to mine. You don't need to slam it any more

Unclip the switch from the left hand catch. Use a small screwdriver adjust the metal plate on the switch so that when you shut the bonnet, the catch presses the switch.

Don't put any type of grease on the catches as it causes the catches to clog up and produce sensor fault. There is a bulletin about this from LR.

I had the same problem, for the first time, tonight.
Problem cured by unclipping the connector from the sensor and pushing it on and off.
You might try cleaning the connections like this.

The other problem you may find with it is the alarm going off intermittently when parked up & locked, a bit annoying - or embarrassing Clive

Ah ha, and I thought the stealers had forgotten to do their normal trick of spray everything, and make it look like they had earned their exorbitant hourly rate!!
Anyhow I unclipped the switch wiped the c---p off it, put it back in place and... it did the trick;)
That lube thing is it OK to lube moving bits and just keep away from switch contacts?
Cheers to all who responded.

I do not like metal to metal contact especially when it is wearing the striker plates. A small and I mean small quantity of gease on the striker plates will not go amiss IMHO and it makes the bonnet far easier to close.
There is no grease near my switch assembly and its definately not the usual garage way of cover everthing in sight, so its your choice
