Are you using Firefox as your browser, I noticed recently that some web pages seem to have fields missing on mine.
If I view the same page with IE8 instead, they all appear as normal.
Worth a try.Clive

Hi
When does it add the discount? I've just tried to buy some and it comes up at £15.64 for a pair in the basket?
Also does it work if I want 4 or do I need to buy 2 pairs seperatly?
Cheers

LED W5W Group Test...
I thought I'd post this here rather than as a new thread for reasons that will become obvious...
I bought 2 pairs of HID's W5W LEDs and have just fitted and tested them this evening. (BTW, order placed on Sunday night, arrived in post today so very speedy response there - thanks).
Before I'd tried these I'd bought two further lots from ebay vendors. Hence the group test. Details as follows:
- Initially bought one item from a Chinese vendor about 10 days ago. Price £3.20 (on a bid. Arrived today and also tested this evening.
- At the same time I saw another vendor selling these from UK. Bought two lots of 4 for about £10 delivered; so £1.25 each. Arrived last week and tested over the weekend.
- Then bought (as noted above) 2 pairs from HID's. Price per unit £5 each.
So there is quite a price differential. Initially I thought I was being canny as these led units all look identical from the pictures. All have 5 surface mount LEDs of yellow colour on the card. All seem to have identical construction. Only very close inspection shows different mouldings for the plastic bayonet bit and maybe different soldering of the SMDs. But I had to look really hard to spot these.
So to performance. I bought these for interior lights as I'd felt the original Land Rover incandescents were a bit pathetic and not as good as the lighting in my previous car (BMW 5 Series ).
The first set I tried were the £1.25 set with 7 of 8 fitted to the two front rows and the load space light. Basically, I was pretty disappointed. Light was a good natural white ('warm white') but it was not really any lighter than the incandescents This is what really lead me to buy some of the HID versions having read what is on this thread.
The HID versions were tried this evening. These are undoubtedly brighter and have a good 'warm white' light. Actually make a real difference in the cabin. It's not quite daylight But its a noticeable and definite improvement - I'd estimate these are about twice as bright as the previous ones. One fitted to the central light in the front gives about the level of useful working light I was looking for. I've now got three of the four fitted. Centre light of front and second row plus the load space light.
Finally, I tried the singleton from China. Looks identical to the others but the light has a distinct cold blue cast compared with both the other sets. Power is probably a bit better than the first set but not quite as good as the HIDs set. Came back out pretty quick as the colour jars with the rest.
Couple of other observations:
- One of the HIDs set is not quite the same as the others. Fabrication is slightly different, colour is very fractionally different and is a tiny bit less bright (though this could be down to the colour).
- Whilst I was playing I noticed the loadspace light has no rear reflector and so most of the light from the directional LEDs is absorbed into the space behind the roof lining. I quickly fabricated a small reflector and this has improved the light fall into the loadspace.
It's very obvious that, what look like very nearly identical units really are performing markedly differently. 3 different suppliers, 4 different devices which you would have guessed came out of the same Chinese factory.
HID units are in my opinion significantly better (x2ish) than both the ebay sourced sets. It's fairly obviously that 'you pays for what you get' here - but you can't tell from looking at the dammed things!
I'll probably consign the 8 original units to the footwells etc (though the warm glow of incandescent bulbs looks quite good against the floor and contrasts well with the whiter overhead LEDs) and I'll go back to HIDs for the remaining 6 I need for the interior overhead lighting.
I hope this helps others looking into the various replacement units. Frankly, I was pretty surprised by the variation here in the quality of supposedly identically rated SMDs. Lesson there somewhere

There was some concern that these sidelight bulbs would not pass MOT- can say that mine passed today with no issues (regarding lights at any rate!)

I'd agree with this
I have these as front sidelights (from hids4u site sponsor)
And these in the rear numberplate lights (from a well known auction site and not as good as the above)
And have just passed a MOT with no issues (at a dealer) Never get mad - get even !!

Hi RichardB and all
Thanks for the feedback. Its nice to hear from others that what we are offering is really better than the other stuff.
We (mainly me personaly) test all of the products and we get many chinese cuppliers writing to us offering bulbs for a 10th of the price we buy them for now. Look the same as you say but we have a great supplier of HID kits and LED bulbs and really quality at the end of the day we have to pay for and this is reflected in our retail price.
These LEDs do keep going out of stock so please wait and they will be back in v. soon.
