Hello

there are now three girls ! I just joined. well actually I have been looking at the site for ages and all the bad news helped me think I did the right thing. I sold my land rover today and bought the Nissan Murano. My dealer said it would be better for me here in Wales as it is more reliable and is better off road for me. In the snow and also doing client visits. I do mostly home visits for clients.

Also the bright orange is much better as you cannot get this colur for the land rover.

what do you think ?

Paula

Welcome Paula... well kind of I guess.

Why did you sell ? The DISCO3 is FAR better off road than the Murano. Your dealer was telling you porkies.

You should join us on one of our off road days. We could show you exactly how good the DISCO3 is off road... orange paint or not Wink

I wouldn't have Sad

Murano will probably cost you more to run (thirsty V6 or V8 aren't they?) and isn't going to be very good off-road, it's only part-time 4x4 and hasn't got a lot of ground clearance. If you're going for Nissan the X-Trail would have been better and the Patrol even better than that.

I would have stuck with Landys, what one did you sell?

It's not all bad news, the D3 is a brilliant car, like any new hi-tech model there are issues but the majority of us don't have them. The bad points will always be discussed more than the good ones, that's the nature of Brits Wink

Is it too late to change your mind? If so I hope the Nissan works out for you

Simon,

Wow ! you were very fast at answering me ! Do you think I made a mistake ? I'm sure I can persuade the dealer to let me go back on the trade in. He's a good client of mine. And I would love to join you on an off road day ! My land rover kept on giving me trouble and he said it was not as good as a japanese car as it was british made and not as well made as the nissan.

Slimer,

Thats a funny name. I can still change I think. I said to Simon that I could as the dealer is a client of mine. is the X trial a good one then ? They do seem nice but not as big as the murano. will you be on chat tomorrow ? I have to go out now. I will chat on there as its better to talk and get answers quickly.

thank you Simon and Slimer (what does that mean ?)

Hi Paula,

X-Trail would be better than the Murano

If he's a Nissan dealer he's bound to say they're better, did you ask him about the cost of parts and servicing Question

Though most of us on here are Landy fanatics to some degree we're not trying to make any money out of you and will probably give you a more unbiased opinion. Personally if I was after a smaller 4x4 It'd be a close run thing between the X-Trail and the Freelander.

What Landy do you have? If it was an older Freelander I can understand, they did have reliability issues, the newer ones are much better.

Si

PS. Slimers just an old nickname

Slimer,

Was was the nickname for ? interesting to hear. I traded my discovery 3 SE for it. liked the car very much but was not good off road on tracks. Too bouncy. I am told the nissan has stronger springs for this. anyway. must go as had another call.

speak to you soon Slimer.

Wales 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 Base 7 Seat Manual Buckingham BlueDiscovery 3

Hi Nick,

I have just seen your message, thanks for the welcome. I took delivery of my Disco 3 yesterday, It took me a couple hours to adjust to it -so different to the cars I have previously owned. My husband did drive it most of the day and left his in the garage. Love the electronics, watching the fuel information was cool. ( Remember guys buy your pertrol/diesel at supermarkets and boycott the big guys Shell n BP they will be the 1st to bring down prices if they are hit where it hurts).

We will be driving to our home in Central France tommorrow for 2 weeks, we are amazed at how much stuff we can load and take with us, looking forward to our first off road experiences whilst there. This will largely consist of having to quickly get off the narrow roads surrounding the village we live in, to allow for the wide tractor loads and huge lorries that come thundering along regardless, I reckon my Disco 3 will be a good match and square up well to these rather aggressive truck drivers.

I am looking forward to my Landrover off road day, to experience the different terrains, until then I will keep it fairly tame!!

Cheers

Allie

Martin have a great break away.

Allie, is yours going to be a base coil-sprung model or air-sprung?
Martin will probably do another round of stickers soon or he may even have a few left from last time if you ask nicely. Then there's the shirts, fleeces and caps 8) .... Mugs and Mousemats next Martin? Wink

Slimmer
Mine is air sprung, just getting used to it at the moment. cheers for pointing me in the right direction for a window sticker.

Hi Paula

I looked at most 4x4s before settling for the Disco 3, including Cayenne, Volvo,Tourag, Xtrail, Landcruiser and finally the Murano. I feel that I have found one that meets all criteria on or off road, but most all it is a real and serious 4x4. I felt the others were marketed for image only and did not tick all the boxes for me.( Image is also a factor for me 8).

I live in Wales Sheep by Snowdonia National Park - the Landrover was made for such a terrain.

Did you speak to your Landrover dealer regarding your issues with the car, before you changed?

France 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Bonatti GreyDiscovery 3

Hi there !

There's a very long time since i'm lurking on the forum Embarassed , long before ordering my D3. Razz
My D3 arrived on the begginning of June, and i already drove it for 10000km (aprox 6300 miles).

So far, i've had no problem with it. Very Happy

As my dealer gave me the keys, he told me to wait before the "Bong sound" before running the engine, otherwise, i would have alarms, and failure due to system bootup aborted. I followed his advice, and had no problem until now.
