As far as im aware/told its an Assurance program not a recall so no letters will be going out to customers.
Im told if your car is in the workshops for anything else and your vin falls in the range coverd they will do the battery tests to see if it needs it and the modulator etc along with any software updates for the mentioned items.
Mine got some of the software a couple of days agao

It certainly isn't a recall, but whoever gave you that info clearly hasn't read the blurb.
Quote:
Action to be taken
You are requested to write to your customers based on the samples attached in Appendix 1 and
2 in readiness for delivery to the customers no earlier than the 1st March 2010. You are
requested to contact the owners of diesel vehicles first followed by customers with petrol vehicles
on the 8th March. You should request that the vehicle is made available at the earliest
opportunity for it to be updated with the latest software and where necessary fitted with new
parts as previously detailed.
Unquote.
As for batteries, there is a specific list of vehicles where batteries need replacing, not a VIN range. Everything else is covered, to varying degrees, by differing VIN ranges. Turbo solenoids are being replaced, no testing first, up to VIN 531064

The blurb would appear to suggest that the powertrain update is only relevant to those vehicles fitted with a DPF.

Q86ARR can you elaborate, mibne went in yesterday and had the work done, but nothing about the fuel side even though I complained about poor MPG. They said this part was just for PDF filter models. MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange
