Hello Jamga and others,
I'm waiting to have my EGR valves blanked off so was a bit surprized on a journey back to east London from Cambridge to suddenly hear the dreaded "Bong". On the dash was exactly the same set of warning lights that you had. Hand Brake, Suspension, HDC, ect and a very large "F" character displayed next to the LCD gear position indicator. Pulled over to the hard shoulder and rebooted the engine. Now all OK until a couple miles from the A406 when all the same lights came back on. Stopped and rebooted again. No more problems since two weeks back. Just thought I'd drop you a line that your not alone. As I have late 2007 model I understand from this brilliant site that the engine software has to be re-written or re-mapped after blanking, if that's the correct terminology! Hopefully re-mapping will cure this strange problem.

Hi Olddiver
Your problem sounds like the one I had a couple of times this summer - it was actually being caused by a faulty brake light switch. Because the brakes are associated with all sorts of other systems a simple switch that produces an error ends up light up the dash like a Christmas tree.
The good news is that a new switch is about £8 and it takes about 3 minutes to fit, even if you do it yourself.

Hello MCCP,
Thanks for the INFO. Sounds like I've got two problems although "bong followed by dash board light up" has not reoccurred since that night. And that switch must be the best value ever from LR I'm still waiting to get the EGR valves done although I'm struggling to get my head round why my late 2007 model causes the mechanics a software problem. Bearing in mind that I live in east London If I had the time I would book the ruddy vehicle in with BAS and then spend the day at the National Railway Museum.

Blanking the EGR valves causes higher NOx emissions, so the regulations were changed in 2007 to ensure the engine fault light comes on if you blank them. This could then be used to fail the MOT. The software patch is designed to make the warning light go out. This means your car won't fail the MOT, unless stricter NOx testing is brought in, and then only if it applies to older cars, like yours. The WHO and EU say that, to protect human health, the annual mean for NO2 should not exceed 40 μg/m3.
Went for a job as a human cannonball. Not the right calibre.

DDDad, blimey, that was some answer. And thank you. I now understand. So it follows that the software patch is clever enough to fool the engine management system and keep the EML off. The people on this site are so clever.

A number of sponsors on here can do that for you either with an EGR blank ECU remap or using emulators. The nearest to you might be member Flack?2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

I'm also looking for someone in the Bristol area to 'sort' the EGRs on a euro 4 engine. having issues with the car - the symptoms suggest EGRs (no pull sometimes - usually in the middle of a junction) or when on a long blast. the problem is that no fault codes relating to the EGRs come up.
Going to blank them anyway to see if the issue still happens but if anyone knows of someone who can do a software patch relatively local to me then I would be interested to find out who can do this. I'm sure others will as well!

Scooters, I had issues with mine and blanked them myself at first - lasted 4 months with the EML on, then arranged to meet Geoff at Taunton when he was doing a flush and he did the job properly for me Iggy/Ieuan
