Might be very low fuel level.
I've just had this on the new RRS TDV6. I took it back to the dealer (10 minutes after collecting it), who took it into the workshop and eventually diagnosed ... ... ... very low fuel level. Apparently the new models give you a reduced performance message and a red triangle in the dash. The car then enters an economy mode. It might also have said something else like "low fuel" but I missed that. The fuel gauge does not show an orange light as it does on the D3. In fact, I read the fuel gauge to show about 1/8 of a tank remaining.

Thanks NJF !!
That makes sense - gauge was also showing about 1/8 left and apparantly had the red triangle. She filled up whilst shopping
Wont be calling the dealer just yet then !! Steve

When the car sences there is 6ltrs left in the tank and it sences it for more than 15 seconds it will enter and trigger run dry mode which will reduce performance.
It will then keep re checking every 5 seconds to look for changes, EG when you fill up but it will only take note if you add more than 1/4 of a ltr of fuel on your fill up.
When it enters low power mode the engine can only generate 350Nm of torque.
After filling up and the car sences 7ltrs or more in its 5 second chqs it will disable run dry mode and reset low power mode.

Reduced Performance on D4 HSE
We've just had our second failure in the past three days on our 2000 mile old 3.0 HSE. On Friday it came up with "Reduced Performance" and a red warning light saying seek immediate assistance. This happened with my wife on the morning school run with the engine going in to limp home mode. We got LR Assistance out and the very nice man said that there was a fault with the turbo vain control that was stuck open. He reset it then took it for a 15 minute drive and checked all the fault codes.
48 hours later (with a full tank of fuel) it has done it again. We are now going to have it recovered to Hillendale and I'm having a rental car delivered tomorrow.
I've been doing a bit of research and it looks like there are quite a few issues with this engine with exactly this fault when in Jaguar XF's. I did 60,000 miles in my last 2.7 HSE and never had a single engine problem. I'm not impressed and must admit to being sceptical about the cars ability to drive to the Alps!
But when it works it is absolutely brilliant and a massive improvement over the 2.7. But it has to be working.....

Nanny is getting more intrusive. They don't trust you to look at the fuel guage now. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Just what you don't need whilst passing a truck with your foot to the floor, when nothing has gone wrong with the vehicle. Mental note to self - don't be in that situation.

On the low fuel issue I experienced, the car did not back off the power that it was already delivering - you just couldn't quickly add a whole lot more. I was still able to accelerate, if that's the right word. I don't know if that's the long and short of it, but it's what I recall.

LRA's computer found no faults (there's a surprise) so off it went to the dealer on the back of a transporter (they deemed it dangerous to drive due to it going into reduced power mode when it likes .....) and now stuck with a ****ing passat !!!!
Not happy Steve

Have a real go at LR Cust Services, you didn't spend £40k plus on a D4 to drive around in a VDubya!!

Too much nanny.
This and the fat battery issue seem to be connected with electronic nanny.
I knew it would all end in tears. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
