cmyers_uk,
I am happy to either agree or disagree ! and I am sure manu disagree with my views also.

However, just one thing, although we have never seen the 'package' of features together in one vehicle before, I am not sure that you can call everything new technology in Disco3.......

Air Suspension - common on many other vehicles and proven in Range Rover,
Electronic fly-by-wire throttle, seen before in Disco II and many other vehicles, plus electornic engine controls are very common, as is the 6speed adaptive gearbox.
High performance audio with MOST - is in many other cars. In fact some systems even give folder and track information on MP3s.
Comprehensive Sat Nav, again, very very good, and latest Generation with TMC, but not new.
Adaptive headlights - all over the place as are cabin pre-heaters Surprised
Electronic park brakes, alarms, electric windows, trip computers, climate control, etc etc - all this and more you can see in other manufacturers cars.

Terrain Response is a new software knowledge based application, I agree, but it links to other, more proven systems.

I am not wanting to take anything away here, it is the application of all this technology a 'great package' and a great design (I really like my car).

But remember;

'4 million test miles in extreem conditions across 5 continents in one pf the toughest and most varied testing programmes of any vehicle offered for sale.......'

You would expect corrosion in the cabling to be found ...

I how have the official reply in a letter from landrover:

"The cabin pre heat function should not be on the vehicle, software will be made avalable to remove the information from the settings menu. This function will not be avalalible for a number of years"

I will be taking this further!

Oh no, I don't think they will. A mutiny is on the way if they do I feel. I think we should know the reason why they install an expensive peice of equipment and then take it away when we have paid for it. Evil or Very Mad Anyone disagree with this Question Maybe a copy of their letter on the page would be interesting Idea

Disco Duck - in my view a lot turns on when you bought the car & on what terms. ie if you were told before accepting delivery of the car that this was an excluded feature then too bad Wink However, as far as I can find out LR have only recently had some dealers advise buyers of this pre-delivery, and they still do not mention iyt in their sales/specification literature. Therefore, if like many of us you bought the car, accepted it with its specification as delivered & no qualification was intimated by the supplier, then you have purchased it with a cabin heater/cooler & LR require to maintain that function. Unfortunately for your dealer, they can't just hide behind "LR says..." as per the Sale of Goods Act they are responsible to you the customer in the first instance.
My advice is to intimate to the dealer by Rec Del post that you do not accept this and that you will take action against them if any feature present in the vehicle when purchased by you is removed by them at any stage when the car is in their possession (eg a service/repairs etc).

This is what I am going to do. If other people are doing the same some one may have to change their mind at LR, I think my dealer is a bit embarassed by the attitude at LR. The letter is their response to my letter quoting the sale of goods act. At last they have put their position in writing!

It really isn't getting any better is it Crying or Very sad Im going to have to place masking tape over my rear intensity lights, which do not extinguish when I tow, because if it is changed it will invalidate the warranty. Not withstanding LR make the model for Germany with a wiring loom that has self cut out lights. Who makes the warranty, LR or who Question
