Am I correct in assuming from the above that if anyone had a turbo replaced on a remapped car the remap will have been wiped??? Question

Not really, just make sure you have the latest FLASH on your tune box, so after returning from any dealer visits at least it will be ok. But bear in mind, at some point the flash will be out of date that's on the box eventually, therefore you need to decide between LR enhancements or performance

With the BAS box or any other Alientec rebadge, you can always upload the original before service. Then download again after service and get a new remap file if it has changed (cross sum check) (only £115 or so from celtic tuning, tuningtools etc.). Maybe Pete can do a similarly or lower priced option.

Unless remapping blows EGRs and turbos prematurely in which case its probably better to wait for a D4, or give up with turbo diesels altogether (unreliable these days compared to petrol due to all the "clean" tech). Still I will miss the 500 mile range.

Cost of replacing turbo

Roughly how much to replace turbo, parts and labour? I use non-franchised LR specialist, who always uses genuine LR parts

Roughly £900 for the turbo and associated parts ( minus any trade discount

Book time for the turbo is 6 hours, but at an indy, probably talking best part of a day and a half, possibly 2 if they havnt done on before
