Yeah we had to have a new turbo fitted last September
Travelling home from Scotland on the A1 pulling a twin axel tintent. Ping engine warning light comes on and no acceleration. When the Guys at the stealers take a look No faults found . I point out that it only happened whilst towing and sure enough the turbo is faulty they replaced it with a nice new one under warrenty

Should have replied earlier since it was I who instigated the poll.
Yes Turbo failure at 50k, 05 plate auto .
Dissappointed in the extreme. TD5 oil pump failure was well documented, big news in the press/watchdog etc.
Will this go the same way??
Cheers.

Is this turbo self exercising routine part of the enhancement programme, put on at servicing or do we have to ask for it????

You will need to ask for it, unless your dealer is on the ball.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

DSL, if your D3 has been serviced recently then it should have had it, its a new flash to the ECU, if not, you will definately get it when its replaced
It one of the reasons why WE ALL must go through the start up sequence properly, whilst waiting for the glow plug light to go out, give it a few more seconds before cranking, this is where the exercise takes place on these variable vanes

I would have thought so......................................unless you have a remap.........................This is where the Remap boys miss out to be honest. Any future updates through a flash to ECU are always overwritten when you apply the remap, and when you return it to standard it will always the the stored copy that has'nt recent updates.

It will only be carried out if you have a new turbo fitted, or anything else that requires an engine management download...

Mac: Its not carried out at routine servicing
And, if you want it carried out before turbo failure, the dealer will charge you for it, unless you have a friendly dealer, or know someone who works there My D3 Build Thread

Does seem a bit nuts that this is not done at servicing. I suppose they think that LR paying a few quid to the dealer for adding a bit of software is not desirable, better let the customer pay £2k instead. Glad I had Tesco!

That's a very interesting point. Is there any way to solve it?

Not really, just make sure you have the latest FLASH on your tune box, so after returning from any dealer visits at least it will be ok. But bear in mind, at some point the flash will be out of date that's on the box eventually, therefore you need to decide between LR enhancements or performance
