PBHawkin,
A good engineer could design a plug-in box to do whatever a remap can if:
1. They capture all inputs and outputs to the ECU
2. They know exactly what the internal mapping of the ECU is
3. They're prepared to design what will be a rather complex piece of hardware, in essence virtually a second ECU.
Whether anyone would be prepared to pay the cost of such an item is another matter. It's far easier and cheaper to remap the ECU. But in theory, yes, you could do it.
Cheers,
Gordon
PS I don't think the Bells-Auto box is a tune-up box. It's an interface to allow for the re-mapping of the ECU - you remove it once it's done.ex - 2006 D3 TDV6 SE, silver, with lots of stuff - R.I.P.
ex - 2009 D3 TDV6 SE, silver, had lots of stuff too!
Now - 2010 RRS 3.0 TDV6, rimini red, 18" rims + Cooper LTZ, rear eLocker, Spider tuning box, GOE protection plates and rock sliders, GOE 3way shortened rods.

So to those who are smug in the knowledge they have (but I don't) by saying do a search is NOT helpful.
Oh FFS pull your head in . no one was being smug. before you start talking crap how about knowing why it was said in the first place. it is not always said to newbies or even long term users but some people need to be told. if you would care to PM those that you think are smug and actually find out why then you may have the right to get on your soap box

Well as you are the one who brought it out into the open by acknowledging your attitude......(but you are not alone in this regard).
I don't care why you have the attitude you do and like a lot of others (in this thread and others) find it (and you) offensive, aggressive, unfriendly, unhelpfull and generally a Boor. I don't need and certainly don't want to PM (let alone talk or even meet) you.
Thank you for the informative reply disco4x4au.
Sorry to be OT in your thread Fastrac but over the last year or so this attitude by a number of 'senior' members here is taking the enjoyment away from coming to this forum.regards
Peter

I find (seeing I know how the site works) actually FINDING a link is the best option for a newby,
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

If that isn't a sticker, who did the signwriting of Disco3.co.uk
