Re: Is there any Tips on ways of Tuning D3?

Just got a 54 plate TDV6 D3 and was wanting to know how i can tune it to get the low down flat spot out. Cheers
To remove the low-down flat spot (aka "roundabout delay"), search on EGR blanking and follow the instructions to blank off the EGRs and remove the "butterfly valve".
That will remove 80-90% of the low down flat spot (amongst other reasons the butterfly valve causes the turbo to spin down by starving the engine of air )
Once done a tune will give you better performance on top but if your main concern is the flat spot then you may be able to DIY for almost free.
Personally I had mine blanked and tuned by JE Engineering in Cov but I removed the butterfly valve myself (which on its own improved the flat spot...)Cheers

Is the butterfly valve part of the egr or something else.
Where do you find it.
What kind of 0-60 does it do with the je remap?
Cheers

No it sits in the black plenum top centre of the engine -where the two silver EGR pipes come up from left and right (one each side) exhaust valves/manifolds.

DiscoDunc, have you run ATR's for 40,000 miles?
I just had a set put on - Sunday was the first time they'd got muddy, and seeing Glynne's sidewall gone was a bit distressing (not as much as for him though )

been running Cooper STs.
had them on for 40,000 then sold them to Glynne with about 8mm left. was he on ATRs when he got the puncture. I assumed it was the STs
However, one of the brand new ones i bought got a hole in the side wall a couple of weeks ago Duncan

so many questions so little research time
you have been given plenty of info to go and research and even a few less blunt hints than this one at using the search function. you will find your way around the site for future reference by trying a few searches, its for your own benefit (cruel to be kind and all )

fastrac, try doing a search with "+remap +tune" in the search field. There are masses of threads, most say the same things and some are most entertaining to read..Duncan

Why post a reply at all if you clearly feel it a waste of your time???
Personally I'm happy to point him at the possibility of searching (which he said he would do), and answer his other questions, but thanks for looking after my time and stopping me "wasting" it.... Cheers

dont mind helping those that help themselves but some folk are just taking the pee. and part of the reason for my post if you care to take note is that he will benefit in the long run by finding his way around the site

obviously the saying was easier than the doing eh
if you took out all the rubish questions like these that have been asked many many many many times and the constant repeat of answers the site would be half its size.

seeing as the posters earlier in this thread that suggested a search were untouched by the flame thrower Im assuming it was just an excuse for a personal hit.
