Evo8 - I noticed in the BBS forum this morning that you've also been synchronising the CCF data between various modules.....
This is something that you should never really need to do unless there is a problem....
It also shouldn't cause any problems doing it, but please take your time, read the help files and forum, make backups and go slowly as you seem to have launched straight into changing things without learning the basics first
As far as the adaptive gearbox reset goes, I'm going to do mine now before driving home - I'll report back tonight 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

Seconded Paul
While it might seem like one, this system is no toy, it is a very powerful and immensely capable piece of equipment, able to do stuff no other equipment can, and it really requires one to fully research and understand all aspects of the way the vehicle works to use properly and achieve the desired and expected results. With the correct appraoch and a little knowledge, it can really allow you to take things to a whole new level as you have seen.
So i must emphasize that it is but a tool, when and why you use it must be driven and complimented by its user doing as much reserch as possible using all avaliable documentation.
I myself am humbly regarded as being a guru of knowledge in respect of the technology of these vehicles and to some degree that is true, but i promise you that all my ammased knowledge was attained simply through reading all the same LR material that is availiable to you on line. There is no skill, artistry or other personal gift type element involved, you just have to be willing to put in the time to research and read what is readily availible to you.
If you understand the CAN bus network, you will know that after any programming of a given ECU, it is a requirement that all ECU's be reset to accomodate and install any new software. This is especially so of a CCF change. hence all the bonging, In addition, any ECU that is off line to all the others during programming will have a knock on effect of all the others storing faults due to one of the bus members being off line during the programming. This requires a fault code clear on all ECU's to get the system back to its initial status quo.

I did mine a couple of hours ago....
No bings, bongs, nothing....on screen instructions from Faultmate and informed when finished, but absolutely not a peep from the D3
The gearbox feels a little 'snappier', but too early to notice if it drinks less diesel 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

ISTR you can reset it by stamping on the go pedal 3 or 4 times in a row with the ignition on (engine off) so I'd expect it to do it silently The End

Adaptive reset of the gearbox is not programming and therefore there is no "All ECU reset" command issued which is what typically causes all the noises, So it should be silent.
You get the noise after any flash or CCF write only.
Please don't tell Pete, i don't want him thinking i am tuning cars without him
Slimer, thats a new one on me, and there is me going on about reading everything Some Guru huh,

Why would you want to reset your adaptive gearbox? Volvo XC60 - does all that the D4 should have done
Discovery HSE MY16 (good apart from the heating), now sold
Audi TT Roadster (wow)
MGB Roadster (owned since 1992)
Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE MY08
Saab 9-5 Aero 2002 (gone but not forgotten)

Bit like formatting your computer and re installing everything, freshens it up a bit, stops it being so laid back and lazy and makes it forget its bad habits.
