Bumping this back again..
Wiggs - How have you wired from the inverter to the 3 pin socket?
I've got an inverter that I wanted to tuck out the way and leave hooked up to my Aux battery so wanted to do something similar (although probably not as nice as yours!)

Took the 3 pin socket off the inverter and fitted that to my panel . I then connected from original wiring in inverter to 3 pin socket ( with a connector in-between for easy removal )G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Thanks for the reply!
Wasn't keen on butchering the inverter... I know it's not the cleanest soluition, but do you think I could run an extension using a 'normal' 3 pin plug in the inverter to the back of a 3 pin socket on a panel? I've seen some marine sockets that would look ok I think..

As this thread's been bumped again, I thought I'd share what I've done after fitting my AUX battery. Thanks to Wiggs for the idea
I ended up modifying the rear panel rather than making a new wooden one, placing some MDF at the rear to strengthen it. Then drilled the holes through to fit a voltage panel and 3 auxillary sockets all seperately fused with switches.

Great thanks again. I dont suppose you have a bigger version of the photo showing the back of the panel with the wiring connections?

There's a bigger picture in my gallery on the link below, just click on the picture to get a larger view. It doesn't show the feed into the unit, but you can probably see where they go.
It says that they are rated at 10a but I'm not sure if that's enough? The fuses that are currently on the 12v sockets are 20a which is confusing me somewhat.
Thanks again!

20A may be a little excessive for accessory sockets IMHO, 10A or max 15A fuses should be plenty for any accessory powered through the socket. (different story for stuff you power directly from the fuse though).
