Thanks to Dr Discoeast (the butterfly/blanking plate specialist) and Dr Ironman (the gynaecologist) , I am now the proud owner of a butterfly flap which allows membership to the exclusive "butterfly club". Thumbs Up

Driving back I could feel slight improvement on turbo lag when pulling off - could also have been all the beer Rolling with laughter

Thanks Heine for the (ab)use of your venue Thumbs Up

Thanks to Heine for hosting the venue and supplying the beers and Koos for overlooking the process of blanking the EGR's + removal of the butterfly valve. Also lekker meeting the gang and in all a great day.

Deon: These gynie hands came in handy.. Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Heine: you should have warned me not to down 2 Heinekens minutes before touching your D3.. Whistle Whistle

OK thought you guys might be interested in some stats:
We went to Sun City yesterday spent the day in the Valley of Waves with the kids - fantastic fun.. except for the heat, when we left at 5pm it was still 39 degrees!!!

Anyway: filled the D3, had the STT's on, roof rack etc. Pushed the car there and back and got 10.2 l/100Km This was VERY interesting as I did not expect to get this sort of consumption.. With this setup I normally at best get around 10.9 - 11.2 l/100Km. Will keep monitoring it... Mr. Green

I've also noticed a huge decrease in lag - especially when tapping off and then putting your foot down again .

Yup, the lag seems to have gone away - ie. that moment when you slack off, then change your mind and gas it, but then the engine and gearbox seem to be ignoring each-other. My consumption is kak to say the least. How you boys get into the 10's I am about to go ponder over a nice little cohiba and a drop of something filtered thru peat

To confirm with the other member the lag has disappeared. The car also feels a lot more responsive from a standing position. The other observation I made is that their is less black smoke being emitted when the car moves from 1 to 3rd gear. Anyone notice this. In my opinion I think that it was worth while to blank the EGR's and removing the butterfly valve.
