Just had "engine system fault" twice. TDV6 HSE has done 3500 miles. It happened the first time when I took the car past 85-90 mph. Goes into low power mode. Pulled over and turned off. All ok. On the journey back I thought I'd try it again. 85-90 mph and it happened. I've been this fast before and it's been ok. Dealer can't look at it for a couple of weeks. It will be theirs by then as it's being swapped due to being rejected for another issue.Gavin.

Correct - or in my case Air Intake Sensor (according to LR "and if that don't fix it, we'll swap the turbocharger")Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

System engine fault
Hi I posted a similiar fault sometime ago, within the last few days I have found out from LR that they now admit there is a fault.
I'm told their tech support / Engineering depts are woking to correct the fault.
If you have taken the D3 to your dealership they will inform that you have the latest computer update, which they are correct.
BUT LR are trying to correct the known fault, looks like a veh recall may happen soon.
Which this space.

Hello I'm just new to the forum but have had a 2005 Disco for the past year and it has been back to the dealer no less than 6 times so far,to the point they have finally agreed to change it for a new 2006 vehicle. My list of problems have ranged from incorrect climate control, only recieving hot air when dial is set at max. Hand brake warning light coming on followed by engine management system fault EDC followed by suspension failure lights and loss of air suspension this has happened at least 10 times.Navigation system screen turning light and dark, resulting in new screen fitted.
Although the local Landrover dealership has been helpfull they seem to have a very narrow ability at fixing anything on these cars due to the amount of electonics. If it cannot be simply rebooted by a computer or new program installed then they are stuck and this leaves you with a car you cannot use safely, and also one that you dare not sell on.Luckily as i mention earlier after lots of phone calls and emails to landrover customer services and our dealer,we have finally been offered a new disco3se,with the promise it will be off the new improved line of manufacture.
Anybody else had it this bad.

"improved line"? Are you kidding? They didn't fix the problems in 1 1/2 year, what could they do in a few months?

So far my 4 months car had the turbocharger replaced, the compressor refitted and right now is having a steering knock, leaning on the back, doing 18 mpg, vibrating at idle, not heating enough, various plastic parts are breaking, the boot store is broken, etc, etc. And nothing is being done. I don't care if it's the dealer's fault, the Land Rover brand hangs in front of his shop. I know many are going to say "it's a great car", or "it is the best car in the world" but the fact is: I'm not enjoying the experience, I cannot rely on it and therefore I cannot recommend it. I like it a lot, of course, but this is not helping much...

I have been lucky to have not experienced any mechanical problems, all of mine have been electrical, and i believe that if Landrover actually had properly trained electronics engineers at there dealer workshops my problems would have been fixed alot earlier.Instead of having to rely on mechanics with laptops telling them what what to check.
Sounds like the only thing for you with your car is to ask for a replacement or your money back ASAP,before you rack up many more miles.

As it's been a lot at the dealer, I'm at only 3000 miles right now. Your ideea is great, but I can't find a way to contact Land Rover customer service!

System engine fault
Hi
I totally agree, what I'm saying is DON'T hold your BREATH.
May be FORD's need to be informed of this problem, it might put a in coming up their 6.
I know that Ford are not very happy with LR Management etc.
As I stated previously watch this space, but its not going to help me this w/e with snow etc forcast.

Hi Guys..
Joining you from the dark side: rrsport.co.uk
I posted a thread in regard to this same problem, i.e. engine loosing power at high speed, and displaying: "Special Programmes OFF" and the car dropping all power, no acceleration there, leading me to swerve over from right lane to hard shoulder and perform a restart. Happened to me three weeks ago on route to Newbie Fun 4x4 Day, and twice today,
Right, going full attack on Monday to Stratstone Solihull: Any tech information or official paperwork i should print and present, im going in with sleeves rolled up and gloves off, i can get very arsey and as this is the worst issue i have come across in all my cars and years of driving, i intend to get very vocal and loud if need be.
Advice/Info appreciated, thanks guys.
By the way, my car is: RRS TDV6 HSE
Auto, - May 2005 car, only started happening recently. I have 10300 miles on my car. Ex demo car, no problems to date just trivial issues. Don't want to be without my car/put in another model. Does this warrant a LR assist case?

Kam I agree, you should be going in all guns blazing. One thing I saw recently was a Watchdog program about Volvo's doing the same thing!
I don't think that going to Watchdog would be a good idea at this stage, because it will devalue the brand, give the dealer and LR a chance, but let them know that Volvo have the same problem.
I wonder if its a coincidence that Ford happen to own both brands.
