So is the standard package normally advertised on here Stage 1 or 2, in other words should we be deducting the £99 for Stage 1 or adding it for Stage 2 The End

Please correct me if I'm wrong, just trying to make this clear for us mere mortals
Must also remember (anyone that's considering it) those are standard prices and there's a special offer on currently.....The End

It seems odd to me that a stage 2 would cost extra, its not like there is extra work involved in fitting it (i assume) just some higher numbers in the controler.
why not do the 250bhp tune as standard?
fair enough charging extra for the speed limit thing although i generally disagre with removing them..

It reflects the extra time and effort we put into developing the higher power levels.
Also, there is less fuel economy gain at 250 bhp so we feel it is better to offer 2 levels of tune.
You can buy a Porsche Cayenne with 450 bhp or one with 500 bhp for £10,000 more.....maybe Porsche should charge the same for all power levels? Money talks.Sex sells.Mud sticks.Time flys. happens.People talk.Impressions last!

immitation TCs
Hi TC
Do you have a record of the cars which have had the mod applied to them by your fitters around the country. I recently had my D3 TC'd, then read about some 'immitations' claiming to be fitting your mod, but really putting sub-standard stuff in. I was hoping to PM you my reg number so you could confirm its legitimacy. I should add that the increase in power suggests TC, although petrol consumption reflects significantly less reduction than I might have expected (about 1mpg better [22.5mpg ave] since being modded)'

The wild west
I am considering having my D3 turbochipped but according to your web site the nearest agent is in Reading. Is there really no-one nearer?
Please explain why you think LR do not apply similar mapping as standard.
Tight engineering tolerances
Concerns over fuel grade that may not meet the usual high standard in the uk?
Are there any other reasons or potetial problems that could be anticipated as a result of chipping?

Hi TC
I had a look at my invoice, and it turns out I got the 'Superchip' as opposed to your 'Turbochip'.
Can't remember what prompted the decision either way, but their system has, as I said, performed well. I was told by the fitter that some cars respond to the upgrade much more than others, and that the increase in power on my D3 was extremely 'noticable'. I could not agree more, it now sits back on its rear axel and goes like a rocket (then keeps going).
As for fuel consumption my mpg increased by about 1-2mpg (maybe the TC option would be better - I dunno). I expected mpg to drop after the upgrade, so I am still a happy bunny with what I got.
TCs website lists their upgrade as being up to 235Bhp wheras Superchip list 224Bhp, while TC list power up to +120Nm alongside Superchips +44Nm (although I assume TC is with the optional speed limit removal - correct me if I'm wrong TC, and accept my appologies in advance if I am).
All said and done, I'm happy with the route I took, but would love to see some genuine 'rolling road' tests comparing the two systems.'

TC - can you tell me which LR dealers endorse your upgrade - i.e. which dealer can I get it via a sort of official route somewhere in the South?
PM me if you prefer not to shout this.
Thanks

Lost in France
I am waiting for the delivery of our D3 and the dealer started talking to us about the possibility of 'chipping the car' for better fuel consumption and to impove towing conditions.
Now I don't yet know what type of reprogramming they will propose but to prepare for decision I would like to find dout more about the TC approach that is being discussed here. The TC WEB page is providing little information on the following:
- what does the modified typical torque/rpm chart look like
- same for the bhp
- what are the exhaust values measured in comparison with the original and the current EC standards (I am living in France, you see!)
- what is the level of integration with other on-board control systems like
1 terrain response
2 suspensions
3 automatic gear box
- who distributes the product in France; what is the price or where can I get information on this
I would also like to better understand what will happen when the LR dealer upgrades the on-board SW during a service or recall. Would this overwrite the TC code or have TC protected their code.
If the former is the case I believe to have read somewhere that TC would/could re-install their code. Do TC then also update their product to reflect LR changes?
If the latter is the case or in both cases, actually, what are the service agreements proposed by TC to make sure the 'upgraded' users stay up to date with necessary service releases of the on-board software?
