We have seen that but not sure we’ll get there. Plus with about 11km of walking today in +35c we’re happy just to be flopping in the hotel, eating their “free” food and schlooping their “free” VC/champers.
And re jet lag, hoping about a bottle of this stuff is going to help the sleep process.

Boy was it hot today. Got back to hotel and get into dry clothes as my shirt was soaked. Good day on foot, wandered down to the the Ginza area then Imperial Palace Gardens.
Main street through Ginza is closed off and they provide lovely shady seats to rest my weary bones and get fluids in us.

Imperial Gardens are lovely, and free, a bit of an oasis in the centre of Tokyo.

Evening all, from a boooooootiful night in Tokyo. Today was the old tourist must-do, the Shibuya area and that crossing.

Didn’t actually buy anything though until we got to a homeware store and bought a couple of US pin USB wall sockets widgets. It was a self checkout, all dual language until it got to the pay section when google translate was worth its weight in chocolate! No pics of the terminal but anyone whinging about Sainsbugs or Tesco’s terminals needs to man up and face the tech. It was Starship Enterprise in Kanji. We did think we’d be there all day as we were not going to do the walk of shame and put the widget back on the shelf!

Now it wasn’t as hot as yesterday but it was easily up to 120% humidity. Ok slightly OTT but it felt like it. Sweat was coming off my noggin in waves and by that time we were in a park and no AC to hide in. Instead nice pretty blossom and watching a heron hunt in the pond.

I love Tokyo. My daughter and I had Mario Karts booked (you need an international licence from the Post Office), but rain stoped play.
This is one of my favourite museums and buildings - its by Corbuseir. Absolutely stunning collection of modern western art in an incredible setting. Ueno Park is also worth a visit as is the zoo etc.

Did the western art and mammoth museum a couple of days ago, loved them.
Really enjoying Tokyo, getting around fine and enjoying the sights. Not experiencing much “local” Japanese food to date as in the hotels we are staying in have lounges with breakie and evening nosh, access for which we get into due to our “frequent flyer/stayer” status. We loose that comfort blanket in several days, take a brave pill or several, and dive into Japanese cuisine for real. Saying that, the Japanese food in the lounge today was absolutely fab, once I armed myself with chopsticks.

Today was change hotel from one just up from the Japanese Diet/Parliament to next to Shinagawa station. Via the Meiji temple/park. We bugged off last nights hotel, hopped on the metro to the temple complex and dumped the baggage in the lockers that are a standard feature of every station. These lockers are great for dumping the packs and going light for a couple of hours. Just got to remember that as our IC cash cards on our watches don’t work for the lockers we actually need cash! Plus note to self, it’s easier once you hit the “ENGLISH” button!

Todays Japanese breakie at the hotel. I am now stuffed and I didn’t even finish the rice. Steak, fish, veggies and lovely scallop, all washed down with meso soup. Lovely.
