And a few pics from the National Garden here in Tokyo today. Yesterday was spent in the hotel trying to stay awake when we needed to and get to sleep when we should have been stacking zzzzzzzs. Needless to say an epic fail on both counts. Did I say I hate jet lag?
Today was out and about for a few hours. It’s 33c here, wall to wall sunshine, booooooooootiful if a bit sweaty. We headed on the metro to the National Gardens for a bit of greenery. Metro and trains in Tokyo are a pretty complex affair. Think big mixed up bowl of spaghetti in a generally circular shape with a few strands cutting across. Luckily we have data and the right app, plus everything is so well signposted in Eng it’s untrue. Plus we have our Suica “cards” now on our watches so no buying tickets, it’s just waft through the system.

Much watching turtles and fishes in this pond.

The odd ratsnake(s?).

And the view from the lounge, glass nicely topped up.

Loving being back in Tokyo.

Will do.
Enjoying jolly so far apart from the piggin’ jet lag! It’s almost 1am here, been awake for over an hour and a half and no way getting back to sleep. If it’s like yesterday I’ll fall asleep at about 7am for the alarm to violently wake me at 8:30am! I hate jet lag!
Off to the Ginza shopping area today, tomorrow for you peeps, to mingle with the born to shop crowds when they close it to traffic.
Few pics from yesterday. Pretty busy out and about, metro trains pretty full on the way out as lots of peeps heading to the parks and zoo. This is the Flatiron type building at Uenon station.

National Museum of Western Art and the Science Nature museum were the destinations. Both boooooootiful and ACed, it was a toastie 34c, full sun and a bit sweaty outside.
Visit to a gallery wouldn’t be complete without a severed head, this is one of 2. Now that’s a cheeky look!

And a nice cooling image. An artistic ice cream.

And some skeletons/fossils from the past.

These would scare you if you were off for a swim at the time.

It’s not just him, old Goliath gets a look in every now and again.
It’s a bit of a theme with us, how long until we see a severed head in a gallery, not including skulls as that’s too easy and common.

10:20 here, and I feel like death warmed up as didn’t get much sleep last night and when I was asleep the alarm went off. Eventually got up at 9:30. If the cure for jet lag includes wine, that doesn’t work.

Nope, not wine Del but I did find a simplistic trick that works for me. And that is to push myself as far I can go with the jet lag, then force another hour, or more if I can stand it.
When you can get through that it's time for the " Irish elixir of sleep" (somehow I know, you know, what's coming next. )
Pour 70ml (Irish double measure) of Jameson into a whiskey tumbler and add 35% room temp water. Swallow, and then repeat once within 30 min period.
Place head on pillow and wait, the outcome should be obvious when you regain consciousness and lag is dispatched appropriately
Sweet dreams!!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

It’s not the initial getting to sleep that’s the issue, that’s easy and we’re both usually asleep at ~10pm. It’s the waking up fully a couple of hours later then not getting back to sleep for another 4 or 5 hours. We then sleep like the dead (with snoring from a certain person) until the alarm goes off at 8:30, then 9:00, and finally 9:30. That’s the grim bit as we’re feeling grim at breakie.
