After that a bit of bus riding, bit chaotic in places as manic traffic combined with a market packing up doesn’t help the buses get through. We passed the Tunis ferry terminal, lots of vans with highly stressed rear suspension and roof piled high. Came across the local boys in bleu harassing the merchants heading back across the Med with their wares, some things never change. Either that or he was advising said traveller that he could easily get another metre of height on that roof and he should do better. Laughing Laughing

Oh, the memories of the Tunis ferry terminal Laughing
If I remember rightly, weren’t they on strike and we had to drive to Italy Question
And yes, the vans piled high with just about anything and everything passing through Laughing

Yes that were on strike, and it was fun experiencing the chaos of Genoa. Thumbs Up

And on one of the return trips they were kind of on strike and we were supposed to go to Sete (passed there today on the train) but sense prevailed (they didn’t want to be landed too far from home) and we went to Marseille as planned. Gotta love the French and their strikes. Thumbs Up

Followed by duck and Jerusalem artichoke purée, SWMBO on the fish, both sharing some lovely daufinoise (sp?) spuds.

All washed down with a lovely bottle of rose.

Then room for pud. Lemon marangue tart for me and chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate for MrsDSL. Well it had to be done.

Lovely meal, all enjoyed sitting outside on the terrace watching the world pass by. We initially had a hemmed in table but a young local couple swapped as they just wanted to stare into each other’s eyes. I said we were long past that after 35 years, view Is more important!! Laughing Laughing

Great end to quite a long travelling day. At least tomorrow the trams and buses will be working. Hopefully. Thumbs Up

Could be worse, could be a “what we drinking now” type thread. Whistle Whistle

Speaking of drinking, we’re in Bordeaux, visited the Cite de Vin, it included a free glass. So when in Bordeaux, what do we try:

One of the best visits of the trip so far was the Les Bassins des Lumieres, a light show in the old WW2 U boat pens in Bordeaux. We had it as part of the City Pass (3 days unlimited public tpt plus various entries foc or discounted) and were really just going in to see the building. However the lights show was really good and watched the whole thing.
