Don't think so unfortunately. It's done it twice now and it had fired up previously a few times with no problem. Interesting to see other feedback though.
Never missed a beat before. Seems too coincidental.

I haven't had the Disco long enough to comment on the FBH's long term reliability. I know it worked when it did a check with the IID earlier in the year, and on the one morning it was below 6 it sprang into life.
Have just managed to clear the faults, and have it run through an operation check without throwing an error at the end (took a few goes). Will try to remember to activate the heater using the remote on the way home and see how it behaves...

Cleared errors this morning, disconnected the remote and it fired up no problem. With the remote connected, it fires up (via the remote) two or three times no problem and then stops with the FBH reporting a fault. Not that I know a great deal about it, it seems as though the remote constantly sends an 'activate' signal to the FBH (which is why it isn't over-ridden when you start/stop the engine for example) and I wonder if the FBH doesn't like this repeated signal, whereas I'm assuming that with other methods of activation, it's a clean, one off 'on' signal. Others with much more knowledge than me may be able to comment?

I ordered one of the same controllers last week, so I will be watching what happens with interest, I know my FBH works perfectly and has done for years, so if I start to get issues I will report back.David

Try unplugging the canbus from the fbh, then see how the controller gets on as the car will have no influence on what the fbh does.

that's not really a long term solution though, but a test.

I think my issues were probably down to operator error (using the FBH when the fuel level in the tank was too low). Has worked a couple of times now having got it back up and going, so we'll see how it goes.
Things I'll take away from this so far;
The remote overrides any sanity checking the vehicle may have done, not just the temperature. Not sure what else there is other than temp, and fuel level, but it seems to be possible to run the FBH when the fuel level is below it's pickup in the tank.
It also seems the the remote has to be told it's off before it will send another on signal. If the FBH shuts off because the coolant reaches temperature (seems to do this), then it's necessary to press off before on next time.
Other than that, worked okay this morning. Now, must investigate fixing the heated screen.

Interesting - keep me posted if you have any more problems. Mine was fine for fuel, so not that and it's been fine without the remote operating it. I'll wait and see what others find too.

interesting find about the fuel level.
Keep it topped up in winter.
Best to remember to press button B at the end of the journey
Prevent any possible problems

Makes sense I suppose, don't want the heater stealing fuel if the engine is running on the dregs anyway.
Yeah, it was much lower than it would usually get as I'd been messing around with various things. Was mentally preparing myself for a walk to and from the garage.
Exactly, mine is even handily labelled 'off', so I can't (shouldn't) get too confused.
@ballast No worries, I'll shout if there are any more issues. Fingers crossed it was just me being an idiot.

Will the fbh only run on the remote signal with the canbus unplugged?

Fitted mine this afternoon, very easy to do, I put an inline fuse on the 12v feed from the battery, I wasn't sure what size to put in, so I put a 2 amp for now, I am happy to be corrected.
It works like a dream, the remote has on and off on the buttons rather than A and B as per the ebay advert, I ran it for 10 minutes and then went for a short trip into Kenilworth, the engine had warmed up within a mile. It is brilliant for me as I do mainly short trips. David
