The Altox controller comes with a push button option. Never fitted mine though, start it remotely by sending a text.
Not sure it works on D3.
Ian Bodsworth (Bodsy) fitted the Altox controller to my D3, can assure it works, remote operation via the App on my phone and also has the handy feature that I can see where the car is and battery condition......
Well worth investing in....G4OC Secretary

Mine is now fitted and working. As already said, all simple enough, only three wires, though I did leave the fourth accessible just in case.

Yeah, +, -, and w-bus, that's it. I'm going to add a sticky pad to stop the control box moving, but over than that am quite happy with how it turned out.
Not sure if it turns off with engine start, haven't tried that yet, have pushed the 'off' button so far, will try to remember to give it a go and report back.

Update; It doe not turn off with engine start, nor I think with a stop and restart (didn't quite confirm that), but does turn off at some point. I don't know whether that's a timer in the w-bus controller, and a temperature signal/switch in the Webasto unit itself. Either way, by teh time I had got from home to work, ~25 mins, it had turned off.
Hope that helps.

How does that effect the battery if you use it for 25 minutes

when its frosty the engine will command the FBH on anyway.
you maybe able to save a few quid and have a timer with this solution if you don't mind connecting 3 modules together.
It has a 15 minute timer too. It's lovely and warm after 15 mins.
No battery problems

Iirc the more people that look at an item there is a good chance the price will rise?
Same as if you watch an item but do not buy, then go back at a later date to buy and the price may have risen.

eBay doesn’t work like that.
It’s down to sales so think. Or coming into winter (seasonal)

I bought one after seeing this post last week, I had previously bought in all the kit to build one but the w bus converter unit was gonna cost me more than this simple item. Still waiting for it to arrive, the fbh fired up tonight 1st time ever but shut down again I fed my air line into the intake and tried again.......
It lives it lives haha so I dont need to strip and clean it. Just waiting on unit to fit, no more cold car in the morning.

Not sure, haven't investigated that yet. But it started the next time I wanted to use it, so couldn't have been that bad.
In the meantime my FBH has developed a fault, maybe because I was using it with not enough fuel in the tank. If a reset cures it I'll try and get a current clamp on the power lead.

Had a problem with mine too - can't remember the exact words, but something along the lines of general electrical failure within the FBH - cleared it and all fine, but too coincidental that it's worked perfectly until the addition of the remote control and now you've had a problem too....?
