To be fair though, it's not really just the fault of that misaligned number plate ....
..... it's that huge swathe of metal from the rear lights, waaaay down to the lower black plastic trim.
...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Again, to be fair .... if I'd bought one I'd be in denial too.

Have to laugh!! My Dad chopped his D4 for a new D5 a couple of months ago.
When we visited him and my kids saw his new Disco for the first time (from the rear as we pulled into his drive) they both chirped me "Why is the number plate not straight!!
Of course, being the loving grandchildren that they are, this was the first thing they say to their dear old Gramps!!
Over a beer later we both came to the conclusion that is pig ugly!!
From Disco 1 to 4 the back is a beauty, then this!!! 2008 D3 HSE Stornoway Grey (UK)
2008 D3 HSE Izmir Blue- South African Spec. (Zimbabwe)
2005 FFRR SC V8- Java Black
1995 D1 300 Tdi Blue - (Sourced from the UK, shipped to Namibia, driven by me to RD Congo, then Zambia, now retired in Zimbabwe)

Get used to it girls, it’s here to stay when all your D3/4s are at the Scrappys.

I thought it might grow on me but if anything, every time I see one, it just looks worse.
I do like the D5 however but that rear number plate is just a huge mistake and the comments here are totally valid.Mods:

I’d not be surprised if the D3 becomes a classic. I doubt the D5 will though.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Unlikely - personally I think it looks ok, one was parked close to where I was sat having a beer last night, with (I assume 22”) wheels in a deep grey - looked ok but it’s not a car that appeals to an enthusiast - it’s to much like so many other large 4x4’s - it lacks character and that’s why it’s appeal will never last as long as the 12 year tenure of the D3/4 - IMO.Now Golf GTI PP, 7 speed DSG.
Ex D3 and D4
