D5 is a reasonable load carrier and according to LRs dimensions in their brochures the D5 has a larger luggage space, being taller, wider and longer than the FFRR.
While not in the D4’s league, the D5 is still an impressive load carrier, with more internal load space than the Full Fat. What makes the D5’s greater loadspace much less useful is the extraordinarily high loading height, the bulky rear door and the lack of a serious loading platform / dog balcony / portable work bench! On balance I find the Fatty much more practical in day to day use. When it comes to needing serious capacity, I simply hitch a trailer! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

I’ll post up the internal dimensions of the rear aperture of the Fatty in the morning. Perhaps others could do the same for the ‘4 and the ‘5 please?2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

What is the load height of a Fatty and D4?
My D5 is 80cms to the floor which is the same as a Sport.
I will check the full dimensions later.

DG, you have a different height to mine.
When it is on reduced height my 2017 HSE is 800 mm!
You are not using a Chinese tape measure by any chance?
I just press the button in the boot to lower the car, do you have a different procedure?

These pics of the front door aperture and the angle of the A pillar are telling. If you’re tall the windscreen is significantly closer to your face in the D5.

Well i press the boot button until I can hear no more air hissing and then keep it held for a couple of seconds more and that gives me 800 mm?
Maybe the 2018 drops a bit more, I will have to take a tape measure next time I am in the stealers.

You had me doubting myself, but just checked again and it was the same as earlier. What wheels are you running?21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
