I have now succeded in several tests of the Webasto timer. Longest timing without any intervention between the time of programming and heater activation was 16 hours. All the times it has worked.
Only complaints I have are that the heater stops operation if I open the doors when it has been activated by the timer, and if I use the instant heat function the heater operates only the ten minutes before the car goes into sleep mode.

That is interesting arsi as we knew that and were trying a work around. One snag is that the remotes do not work either at the moment, bother.
I am still working with Webasto at the moment and we think we may have the answer in a VW Webasto unit, but not yet sure. The sleep mode is the big problem and what ever we do it decides to fall asleep at the moment.
We may try a telephone to activate it, but that is after the second stage.

If the remote W bus module is talking directly to the heater and the fantop operates the fans independently why does the car need to be "awake"? D4 HSE

Arsi,
It would be very interesting if you could get some information relating to the parts that have been fitted and, more importantly, how they have been fitted.

It is the ignition side that is the problem and to be able to override etc. It all looked very simple when I started with Webasto on the project, but then things became more difficult as we went along. Maybe why LR launched it with the gap in the software. Some great minds are working on this and it will be resolved.

Hi all,
Please bear with me as this is my first posting.
Will the mods you are making for the operation of the Webasto heater work on my 06 Disco 'S', as I do not appear to have anything relating to the heater in the 'Settings' menu.
Many thanks

Not sure yet as the Webasto heater may also on the MY06 models have had its control software removed or not installed by LR. That is something we have to find out still.

No we are fully aware of the in dash controls that are missing on the MY06 cars, but the software in the heater may also be missing on the MY06 models. It is easily loaded by Webasto, but it just adds to the aftermarket cost.
I am fitting a new remote tomorrow with Webasto and we should have a result.

So do I. The aerial is the 'sticky' problem at the moment.

Just to confuse things, the in-dash settings are there on my MY06...

Oi tink that you will find that they have disappeared after a certain VIN - they were certainly there in the early 06MY cars.

The Webasto system is OUT of the car.
It does work, but only on the timer not on the 'zapper'. More research needed. The computer code LR use is very unique and placed in the Webasto by LR, not Webasto.
I now know all the codes, sworn to secrecy.
There is a lot I have learnt together with the Webasto technicians. A good point is that the car tells the heater to switch off when the car is unlocked or the door is opened after a preset, so it will not override the car.
The data the heater stores in its memory is very surprising. My heater has only run for 37 minutes in total and that must be with our tests. It tells how long the car has run in total and how many times the car has been started, plus pages more.
A fault was found in my heater as well, the code is being sorted tomorrow.
One thing that was revealed is that the Finish version is not programmable unless it starts outside of the 10 minutes sleep time of the car, the UK version overides that so no waiting required.
Thats it until the harness is made my new car arrives and the system is all replaced.
