.... that is why on occasion i have already said on the forum that when you or your claim company put the claim in against the other insurers, to put a claim in for increased premiums for the next 5 years as your premiums go up due to no fault of your own.
But how do you quantify the amount to claim for ?
However, you wouldn't be successful anyway
I'm sure the legal representatives who deal with insurance companies will have some figures, or you can go online for insurance quotes with and without the non fault accident to see if and how much of an increase in premium.
Give a lawyer a bone.............
Why would it be unsuccessful?
It may need to be tested but you never get what you don't ask or fight for , especially with insurance companies.

I think the whole forum is supporting the above statement.

Well good old 'Avon & Somerset; Constabulary have come up trumps, they carried out enquirers and could not find insurance details.
So they rang the company and confirmed car is insured, they've even sent me an email with a copy of the certificate Now passed on to Legal and my insurance company

Thats a pain Iggy.
This is why I'm always a bit off with the protected NCB bit (as yes I do have it). A lot of folks think it protects their premium from rising after a claim but it doesnt. It just means you go from having, say, 60% discount off a 500quid premium this year to 60% off a £1000 premium next year.
And yes, I got hit in the rear whilst starionary at traffic lights - my premium went up the next year even though full costs were recovered from the other guys insurance. When I asked why I was told I was a greater risk - I asked how that was as every day, millons of us sit waiting at traffic lights, are we all then a risk at that point. - Didnt change the cost, and even after 3 years I think I am still paying more than I would have done with no accident.

Just read this Iggy, so sorry mate. Glad you are ok but I know its going to be a pig with the insurance next year. The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the best of everything they have.

As did I - my car was hit by a roadsweeper outside my house while I wasn't there. Told my insurers there might be a claim coming, but never did in the end as I couldn't prove it and my witness disappeared.
Come renewal time I was informed I had suffered a "loss" and ended up spending the next 3 years declaring it on 4 vehicle policies which cost me a sodding fortune - more than the repair did.
Never again. to them!
