Common guys, give the man a break. Being in an accident is not funny, especially when someone is hurt. He comes here for support an all you can do is trying to be funnier than the previous post. That's pathetic.RLD Sump Guard

1) humour as a coping mechanism. Read about it.
2) suggesting someone chills; not massively antagonistic
3) if unable to accept suggestion in 2), please see 1)
And who are you calling common?

Swmbo got rear ended in ours and the offending car had to be towed but ours only had a scratch. Later swmbo rear ends another car at a round-about and while the other car drove off and later claimed about GBP10k for damage/towing/physical rehabilitation. The insurance company phoned and asked why we hadn't claimed and we told them we only had a small scratch (which it did).
Years ago Volvo marketed something called an '8mph bumper bar' - I think the Disco is up to that! .. So it must have been a pretty good bump and thank goodness mrs Monty was in a decent car and a darn good reason to own something substantial
Yes - Volvo did.
On 240/260 after the original aluminium ones that were visible it was altered to smaller, clad in plastic type. Quite neat to look at
The claim was shunts up to & at 8moh would not damage body.
It worked - you could drive the thing like a dodgem car. Parking damage just didn't occur.
Volvos at that time were all about crash integrity. Very tough motor cars.
There eventually was a more scientific approach that did the same but allowed some bodywork crumpling
140/160....started it
240/260/262...did it in two versions
740/760....had it sort of

Always amazes me how quickly what should be a sensible & interesting thread gets dragged into a complete cat fight. Ok, there were spelling mistakes but not everyone's perfect at that. Tolerance peeps, tolerance FFS.

Oh shut up Del! Lol!
Monty, Sorry to hear of your unfortunate incident. Hope the missus is alright and you get your car repaired quickly. It's a repeat of my young lads incident last year where he also driving a VW Polo rear ended some poor bloke's Audi....fortunately no one was hurt and the insurance company took care of it all....painless other than a loss of pride and an increased insurance renewal....
As you a relative newcomer you are probably unaware that Narpy is our resident elocutionist and spell checker...we have all been ridiculed publicly by him in the past much to everyone else's enjoyment...
So enjoy the forum...stick with it and you'll soon be ripping the out of everyone as well!
Did someone mention DangerDave?
