Cam belt tensioner broke off from fixing location; alloy casting failure at 46,000 miles. Has anyone else experienced the same problem?????

I have seen this once before. One of the mounts for pulleys snapped off the casing. Sure it was the top one, which resulted in the belt slipping...
Pretty sure it was a relatively low mileage too My D3 Build Thread

have seen this too, low mileage, 57000 miles 57 plate vehicle. Was about a year ago, & was out of warranty, but Landrover paid for the new engine. It was the tensioner casting brroken on this one.
My guess is something else goes tight, causing the belt to put excess pressure on the casting of the tensioner & breaking it.
Regards
Steve

YES INDEED.
My previous post 'Engine out through bonnet' was down to cambelt tensioner failure...........until it was stripped that is The casing casting has failed and the tensioner has been completely lost resulting in total engine failure.
57 plater and 81k miles.
An obvious manufacturing fault but true to form, neither LR or the local stealer want to know even though it's only 3 months out of warranty.
I've got some pics I'll post this evening, enough to send a shiver down your spine.
