It's nice 8) the toys are good and it does drive well but alas no.
For a few reasons:
-Looks too much like a RR Sport which for me personally loses some individuality
-Misses the whole point of the ability to bridge effortlessly between brilliant practicality and great refinement
-Boot space is reduced by the design which means less for camping gear etc
-I sat in the back and agree about the leg comfort and lack of thigh support
-Really notice the absence of the stadium seating
-I dislike the activity platform, it doesn't look very robust
It will be a late D4 for me next

Having used a current RRS as a loan car, complete with pointless 21" wheels, over the last couple of days, does it share the fidgety ride with that car?

my car had to go in for a bit of warranty work today. Opted for a ride to work rather than tie up a courtesy car on the car park all day.
As there were two of us to drop off the driver said he would get something a bit larger than the usual VW Uppie! Turns up in a 17 plate D5 with the 2.0 litre engine.
I purposely opted to sit in the back as previously when I looked at the car in the showroom I thought the rear seat squabs looked flat and very short and low.
I was proved right, the comfort was awful and Im not that long legged.
Might be ok for kids but I dont think i;ll be paying the price asked for something that sits two in comfort.
reminded me from many years ago of the rear seats in my shogun.designed more for folding flat than for sitting in.
Must admit at first I also didnt like the rear view but the exterior is growing on me.
engine was very quiet though and the interior well kitted out. Currently 2015 D4 SE Tech, Corris Grey

If the tow bar is electrically deployable does this mean any device I wish to tow has to be taken to a dealer to be programmed so that the tow bar will accept it else it won't come out to play. Why complicate things for the sake of it or is that the reason Defenders are going up in value so fast?
no
It's a normal tow bar, does all things a tow bar should but is tucked up underneath the rear of the car and drops down into position electronically when required and you can tow whatever you like whenever you like. 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

My L405 FFRR is is for warranty work, and I have been given a D5 HSE as a loaner. Here are my thoughts/comparisons.
When I had previously seen a D5 in the dealership my reaction was 'Meh'. However, having driven one for a couple of days, I quite like it. It helps that it is a HSE with lots of toys!
I like the infortainment system, a marked improvement on the previous system that was about 10 years out of date. I see what people mean about the rear seats, but I suppose they are OK for kids. Rear visibility is compromised by the middle row centre seat headrest, and the large C pillar. Car handles and drives well, and is a nice place to be. The lane assist warning system is nicely implemented.

Considering that the Disco is the closest thing that LR now build to an expedition vehicle, ought we to expect a middle row that is able to cater with more than just kids for our £45,000 to £70,000 ish? Just a thought.

How many others are seeing, trying & agreeing with the rear seat thing...
Seating comfort is a basic feature....what the heck were LR thinking about...?
Seven seats maybe...but what's the point if at least three are going to be comfortable for average sized adults ?
No amount of gizmos to play with compensates for this.
The other thread about towing issues is also alarming fo those who need to tow. BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

And the answer is:
A surprisingly careworn, silver D4 HSE, with every wheel scuffed and quite a few battle scars!

Dropped it back at the dealer's place today and got back in my own one - it's just like putting a favourite pair of comfy shoes on (I must be getting old!).
Plenty of D5's there, though the solitary one in the showroom hasn't moved an inch, while everything around it has Interestingly, an immaculate 11 plate FL2 and a similar condition 64 plate Defender in the showroom came and went within 2 days or so

Courtesy car has gone back to the dealers.
I quite liked it and could get on with it. Those who have bought one will certainly enjoy it.
