The recovery guy has drained the system and put in some sort of adative? Followed by some fuel, brother in laws then filled up with diesel and is on his way home.. I'm astonished as I thought this would have been a recovery rather than a quick drain then off you go, I just hope ir doesn't make things worse for them.

I believe mine was miss fuelled some time in the past, over my first year use new LP pump, new HP pump and injectors and about 3hrs time clearing metal fragments out of lines and tank. Fortunately WD helped out but not for the cleaning cost only supply & fitting the parts.

Sounds about right as the car will still run given the correct fuel. But any microscopic bits of metal will still be racing around the HP system. Time, pressure and mechanical motion does the rest.

Can anyone answer the question several have raised in posts above?

How is it possible to misfuel when the pump nozzles are supposedly different diameters and the D4 has a misfuelling prevention function in the top of the fuel filler neck?

I can't even use a proper jerrycan and nozzle to put diesel into my D4 without using the white plastic funnel thingy or the misfuelling system clicks in and it takes like forever to put fuel in.

Anyone?

Another quick question on the misfuel device if I may.

Should a MY16 come with a reset tool thingy for the misfuel device because my D4 hasn't got one, only came with a funnel?

No 16MY comes with a white funnel as it has an active misfuel device which is supposed to prevent putting the wrong fuel in.

Isn't the white funnel for AdBlue?

Markate...Thanks for that, now I know I haven't got to get one.

Del...I think the funnel is for filling from a can.

All covered here, did try to warn My16 owners Very Happy

http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic155412.html

Seems the mis-fueling prevention flap is now permanently deployed now, hence the need for white funnel if re fueling from can.

It is still possible to fill the car, but it would of been extremely slow and I mean real slow.
