I'm sure it's just a silly mistake... my dealer has my best interests at heart and values me as a loyal customer...

Today my D3 has sat on the drive Evil or Very Mad

We had loads of stuff to take to the tip (multiple journeys) but because the D3 won't fit under the barrier and SWMBO won't go to Poynton OR dance with the big trucks in the commercial area of the top, I've been forced to use the Mighty Matiz as a pickup truck AND made more journeys than we needed.... bl**dy women! I finally got back in my D3 today. I have been driving the Mini for a week, and whilst Mini is a great car and a hoot to drive, the D3 is so much more comfortable.

Drove the D3 from home to Stirling, 270 miles non stop, not a problem for the D3, absolute comfort all the way.

I was a bit apprehensive of the weather after watching the news, so packed my ropes, shovel, space blanket etc. expecting the worst that the weather gods could throw at me.

Got to Stirling, and its been glorious sunshine all the way, stunning scenery through the Lakes and Scottish borders - its one of my favourite drives - and not a flake of snow. (just a dusting on the roadside of the highest bits)

Anyway, I'm here until Thursday, so there is chance of snow yet.

United Kingdom 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 Base 7 Seat Manual Zambezi SilverDiscovery 3

This weekend I removed a large section of the hedge at one side of my driveway (NOT DELIBERATELY!)

The drive slopes and turns through 90 degrees. Even the best 4WD system is no match for sheet ice (you need traction to at least 1 wheel!). Turned the steering wheel, but the Disco kept going in a straight line. A huge chunk of hedge was removed, but the Disco suffered little more than a bit of dirt on the front wing , and a slight loss of air from the front ns tyre where the sidewall had been squeezed in by a tree trunk...

Having read some of the other threads on this forum, I am finally going to get my iPod hard-wired to the stereo!!!

Maybe the 22" rims were some of the problem?

Perhaps (I certainly don't have off-road tyres on them!), but as I say, there's no traction on sheer ice...

A few days in Scotland, me , D3 and loads of time and snow!

Posted a load of pics in the gallery, so have a look ..

Well, you know the saying .. lose it or use it. Holiday I mean .. That time of year.

So, booked 3 days and just went North.

In all, 1445 miles round trip.

Birmingham to Birmingham via ..

The Lakes
Carlisle
Stirling
Aviemore
Inverness
Wick
John O'Groats
Dunnet Head
Thurso

(not posted the photos from this point, yet )

Lock Ness
Skye
Fort William
Lock Lomond
Glasgow
M6

The S seats could have been better, but they were ok.

Biggest problem ?? the permagrin is now fixed ..

First time I've had the time to mooch about in Scotland. What an incredible place it is. You residents have something special !

And there are Soooo many opertunities to just turn off the main roads and explore, like the Dams on the way from Lock Ness to Skye.

Anyone else been as far North as you can go on the mainland ?... in a D3

The roads are a joy to drive on. No boy racers . At the 1300 mile mark on my trip, I had averaged 30.4 mpg , and thats with a load of 5 mph stuff "exploring"

Might do Cornwall soon before the tourist season sets in .. Or Wales

At this rate , I'll never get any work done Twisted Evil

I have stood below the lighthouse on Dunnet Head! Did not have the D3 though. It was a few years ago now, and I was in Aviemore over new year, but the slopes were stormbound. So with nothing else to do, we jumpen in my Volvo and headed for John O Groats. The thing is, on the mapit does not look too far - 4 hrs later we got there!

Like you say, a fantastic country, We are going to Grantown on Spey for two weeks this summer with the the caravan. Looking forward to exploring the place, including the Correyairiack pass (thing thats how to spell it)

You had a great trip.
