So had its main dealer service today and as the Trans K9 box was out thought I’d fit my Raw Jack for the spare wheel. Looked like I’ll need to get a new wheel winch as I have the this one !

Unless there is another adapter ?

Mine was supplied with a slotted socket to fit over the winch drive lug.

MOT time, she passed first time, with 258k on the clock Very Happy

A couple of advisories for rust (front anti-roll bar and 'vehicle structure' Whistle but overall very happy to have another year ahead with the beast.

Front lower wishbones

I bought a pair of front lower wishbones last week as the NS swivel was shot, so I replaced the NS one today, luckily with no drama, as it looks like they have been replaced at some point. (The previous owner 'lost' the service history, so I don't know when) The bushes are splitting but would have lasted at least another year.
I'll be doing the other one tomorrow, then getting the tracking done as the steering wheel is now off centre, even though I put the new bolts in the same places as the old ones.

Ukraine 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 Base 7 Seat Auto Zambezi SilverDiscovery 3

Well, it was yesterday actually. I drove my D3 for the last time Big Cry Big Cry , round the M25 to the other side of London, to a parking lot, prior to it going to the Ukraine. Yes, I have donated it, ( via the tfl scrappage scheme ) to assist in humanitarian aid etc. there. Whilst I was a little sad in doing this, I know that it has reached a point, where if any problems arise in the future, it will just not be worth spending any more on it. In some ways I feel that a weight has been lifted from my shoulders, a feeling that I would imagine DSL would have felt, when he relinquished his long standing Land Rover ownership Laughing Farewell my trusty D3 ( yes, it never let me down, (as in stranding me by the roadside) in all its nigh on 19 years ). Bow down Bow down

Front lower arms and tracking

I managed to replace the right lower arm this morning with no drama, just like the left one luckily. The worst bit was getting the shock bolt hole lined up, and torqueing the rear pivot bolt due to access.
I took it for alignment straight after checking everything was torqued up right and only the Toe adjustment was way out - by 23* (the steering was terrible driving the 2 miles to the garage, and the tyres were squealing at every turn)
They said the camber and castor were almost spot on, although I'm not convinced as they only had a regular garage alignment kit.
When I replace the rear lowers, I'll see about getting a Hunter alignment, although there's not one very close.

Lucky you, when I last did mine I had to cut both off Big Cry as for a morning it took me a week on and off to do both.

Step backwards IMHO, with the hexagon you could leave a 1/4” drive socket on and access it with a long extension without touching the rear seats or in my case the sliding floor.

Fitted a new internal lock release cable, forgot to take a picture of the number on the lock actuator for future reference Doh!!
Longest part of the job was fitting the outside handle mechanism back, due to the cables continuing to get stuck on the window guide.

Just replaced the upper near side rear suspension arm…. What a t*at to get off, took me most of today, the top bolt was fully seized and took ages to cut through with a recip saw, or the easiest to access, the one near the compressor undone no problem, the one connected to the hub… well fully seized, ended up drilling the centre out and then knocking the remainder out, new one now on, brakes bled and all done… the rain didn’t help either

I couldn’t believe how worn to top bush was, no rubber left in it

I might attempt the front lowers tomorrow… we’ll see how I feel 🤣
If it ain't broke... Take it apart anyway, how else you gonna find out how it works

Programmed a spare key Smile
After ordering 2 key blanks from two separate suppliers, both refusing to be recognised by the car, the third and final one worked Smile programmed in seconds using the Autel. I now have two keys Smile

Replaced rear O/S driveshaft

All right, it wasn't today but still.

'tother day after walking to dogs, i trundled into to 45 deg driveway started the accent then the poor truck stopped and teh dash yelled gear box over heating and stopped all forward motion, made some awful noises and then rolled back wards. To my embarrasement i had to abandon the truck at teh bottom of the drive and call out my brother in law with his Embarassed ford ranger to tow me up my own drive!!

We drained the gearbox oil which odly had no smell and only gave 1.5 litres. Next day i refilled the oil and used a lovely pump to push it in. ( i did try to drain the old oil from the gearbox by running it up etc).. that was not cheap oil!

https://www.amazon.co.uk/wolfcraft-Plastic...0001P1972/

Put her in reverse an she just sat there... I got out of the car with it running in reverse and it wasnt moving but there was some less than enjoyable noises from the O/S rear. When I looked under i could see the shaft spinning with no movement. took me a moment to work out that was wrong Laughing

So anyway - ordered a replacement shaft from GOS (just in case this didnt fix it) removed and refitted very easily. and she lives ... very pleased with myself and I shall order a NEW shaft in the coming months.

Looks like the shaft is swiveling in the CV joint connection.. I'm assuming the "flutes" are destroyed.
