Had a call from one of the national (Oz) mags the other day asking if I wanted a photo shoot of my car! Apparently the editor had seen a web-shot of it at the last competition held here. They flew a photog over from Sydney + a video cameraman, so spent the whole of Sunday morning running up and down the only two mud-holes still wet here in Perth's summer, and then the afternoon up and down sand-dunes. Terrible way to spend a day 8)
The mag is Australian 4x4 Action (or Monthly as it used to be known), (in)famous for drowning a D3 up at Cape York during their 4XDOTY test last year. Hopefully this is a chance to put the record straight - the photog was pretty impressed with what we could do with the car - and I managed to persuade the cameraman to stay seated in the D3 while I drove up one of the steeper dunes there
Took 4 hours to clean all the clay out of the bottom of the car though
I think it's due out end of May, I'll get the pics about a week prior.
Cheers,

Good stuff Gordon. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I had to be at a crucial finance meeting at 10AM so today I had to leave the bl**dy thing on the drive and catch the train to London - so now I won't be at the Fairmile tonight Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
Drove to Llandrindod Wells tonight to sit in on a council meeting to look at the prospect of setting up a network of drivable routes within the Cambrian Mountains based on the existing Greenlane Network, a lot of antis as you would expect, but the council seem to be keen. I was even glader to find a fuel station as the range was showing 0 as I was about 1/4 mile from the fuel station, don't know what it was running on but it got me there
I did have a problem though, on the way there, after using command shift quite alot, I got the message 'Transmission error' and something like ' Only limited gears available' and a big F where the gear display should have been, so I stopped and turned everything off for a few minutes then restarted and everything seemed to be fine, do these D3s not like you using command shift or something? I'm not as good as I once was........but I'm as good once as I ever was.

Lonely Road
Check the off road Sat Nav. We were on a Ranch of over 10000 acres. Plenty of room to get lost, or at least waste a lot of time getting back to camp.
