adjustable pneumatic rods
hi All
For this topic today on my Disco3 I fitted the rod with pneumatic regolation, I have made 4 pneumatic pistons and I replaced the original rod with this.
In pictures the result; rear, front, pneumatic rods and the total view.
A small valve and some air piping give the command for extend or shorten the rod.

I have to say Pix, I'm very impressed! This kinda blows all the other lift rods straight outta the water! Did you come up with this yourself or is this a kit available for purchase?what is this life, if full of care?
we have no time to stand and stare.

Busy Few Days
Full on preparations in the run up to camping holiday in France.
1. Had a new propshaft centre bearing fitted, propshaft balanced and a 12 month guarantee all for £128.40 inc. VAT Propshafts Greno UK in Sheffield (http://www.propshafts-greno.co.uk) who are a propshaft manufacturer and repairer. Tel: 0114 2467409. Original had lasted 118,000 miles.
2. Investigated an intermittent front end clunk on full right lock. Seems it was the steering stops catching, so greased everything up.
3. Stripped, cleaned, greased and adjusted all the brakes for routine maintenance. Painted the rear hubs with some SWA cold galvanising spray as mentioned on here by others (http://www.swaonline.co.uk/industrial-aero...galv-spray).
4. Had the interior seats and door card edges refurbished (mainly the front seat squabs and bolsters) which now look like new. Good service from Maggie Walker at Interior Revivals near Newark (http://interiorrevival.co.uk). Mountain bike in the back, dropped the car off with them for the day and spent a few very pleasant hours cycling around Sherwood Forest (http://sherwoodforestvisitor.com/great-she...ng-routes/).
Next week's to-do list: dash cam; reversing camera; split battery system; remove defunct mobile phone fitting cradle inside coolbox lid; fit 19" wheels and new ATR tyres.

Does look like a good idea, how do you control the rod length to ensure all the rods heights are equal and how do you know when the rods are back to standard height? I can't see any read switches on the cylinders?

A few days ago got the dreaded bong and suspension fault on the dash, so after buying a rebuild kit from Landyair, today was spent disassembling and rebuilding the EAS compressor.
Happy Disco now all working as it should and a smooth bong-free journey home The difference between genius and stupidity is; genius has its limits...

Had hunter Alignment done today after I fitted new upper and lower front suspension arms, had it done by Bram Racing in Featherstone, Wakefield. Brad nice lad let me watch and talked me through what he was doing, now drives spot on I can even take my hands off the wheel now which I could not do before the new arms where fitted, Fun driving there though, dash lite up like christmas tree, suspension down and pulling to n/s kept stopping and re starting and suspension stopped up for 1/4 mile, but only 2 miles away so not that bad nice and steady. Just the turbo to fit now I think that may be next week now though, keep looking at it sat in it's box.

adjustable pneumatic rods
Hi all
Here the answers at Your questions.
the pneumatic cilinder are build with a cnc lathe and cnc milling and the stroke is the necessary lenght for lift the disco3 of 5 cm (the stroke is the difference from the lenght of the original rods and the "johnson rod"). The construction using the cnc machines guarantees the tolerance of more and less 2 cents on the execution.
for to give pressure at the piping for to move the cilinder I have fit a additional air compressor tha I use also to inflate the tires or to clean the air filter.
A electric solenoid work on a bistable valve for close and open the circuit that move the cilinder; further there is a pressure control valve for fixing the pressure of the pneumatic circuit
In the picture You can see all:
the switch that drive the bistable valve,
a small green led light that check if you are in a normal position or in lift
the additional air coompressor in the rear storage
the bistable valve and the pressure control valve under the rear seats
I have the parts in a little workshop and more and less he costs are:
a) 4 pneumatic cilinder 100-120 euro (all)
b) o ring 4 euro
c) the additional air compressor is at Your choice
d) piping 30 euro
e) solenoid bistable valve 70 euro
f) pressure control valve 15 euro
g) cabling, switch, wire, connectors for air piping and other voices 40 euro
it is possible used a manual valve for to control the pneumatic cilinder with a cost of 25 euro in this case at the price remove the voice e) and other 20 euro of g)
Another possibility is connect the original air pressure circuit at the circuit that move the rods (for the Disco 3 is more simple using the cork on original air pressure bottle.
