Broken winch....
......this morning went with my neighbour/friend to recover his van on my Ifor Williams trailers after he put petrol in the diesel tank
There's a nice hand winch on the trailer used for pulling up plant and non-runners onto the flat bed.
Got it half way up and my friend says, shall I crank it for you? 8)
"Yes please, no not that way" as he beared down with all his weight on the handle trying to turn it the wrong way
SNAP - he sheared the effing handle shaft clean off
His van was left half on the trailer with only the ratchet holding it.....
......simply dropped it back on the road, "You'd be better off getting the local garage to sort it out"
He was back by lunchtime clutching their invoice - only £76 (inc)
Why do I bother to try and help people Cheers, Dave in Essex

Turbo change time
......later the same day started the job I have been putting off for a few weeks now,
knowing it would take at least 2 days of blood, sweat and tears
Yep - time to changing my sticking actuator turbo 8)
New Borg Warner Turbo with fittings and gaskets on the bench waiting in the wings
Together with a nice shiny Terrafirma De Cat pipe and nice new Blue Silicone Turbo pipes 8)
Been doing the wiggly wire thing with WD40 for a few months now to keep the old one going
Spent the remainder of today over my pit trying to get at the damn turbo
So far have got exhaust system off ready to get access to the old turbo......
.....as usual snags held up progress
1. Seized bolts on gearbox crossmember - worked back and forth with impact gun and WD40
2. Seriously seized 3 nuts on back of turbo - chiselled off with long sharp chisel and/or worked with WD40 and 15mm and/or 14mm hex sockets and ratchet spanners
3. Old front pipe seized into rear section - brute force and WD40 did the trick
All this took extra time but at least my son-in-law was there to give moral support and help...
....especially brewing the numbers cups of tea
More fun tomorrow......Cheers, Dave in Essex

Light bar has fitted, needs to be properly braced and wired in but as a rough fit it looks pretty good

I drove it on Saturday night with headlights and it both lit up.
Switched the headlights off and barely noticed the change.
I have auto adaptive bi xenons with upgraded xenon bulbs as well so not exactly running candles!!

Today I fitted some LEDs that have been sitting in my garage for a while that I got off eBay...
Had to drill through the grill to fit them and splice into the sidelight circuit in order to power them correctly.
A pretty simple job that took less than half hour for a competent DIY modder.
Might need to cover them slightly as they are quite dazzling and the next MoT could be interesting....

Did some novelty parking. Not today, but in York on Saturday. Mine's the one that.. er.. hasn't been washed this month.
I still can't understand why my other half tried to hide while I took this.

I'm seriously looking for a disco 3 now for about 3 months and cannot find one here in Ireland so now looking in uk..
My question is can you get the disco 3 with a rear sliding sunroof I need this for hunting purposes, can't seem to find a clear answer anywhere.. If not would it be possibly to fit a rear sliding sunroof if I was to buy one with no glass roof?
Has anyone done it?
I rang one sunroof "specialist" here in Ireland today who told me "It cannot be done".. Something's telling me he just didn't want the job of it and I'd really like a clear answer as its gonna have to be a crew cab open back jeep if it cannot be done, really want a disco 3 tho...
Hopefully some1 here can help and thanks in advance for any useful responses..

Rear guard
Hello at All
For this topic I have to propose a rear guard. Having broken and replaced several plastic brackets of the bumper I built this slide that allows to extract the spare wheel.
