Glorious day today 17th Dec 06 - Bright & Sunny[though temperature around freezing]. Started off painting my kitchen ceiling [was dk blue - changing to white] half way through the third coat I though b*gger it ......................
I'm going out to play. Took a flask of soup, me and my D3 up to the moors. great fun, though nothing too serious [incl a bit of wading], but was able to use 2 Terrain Response settings, Off Road height and HDC.
Went out a shiney beast came back a dirty monster.
took some photos and uploaded to my gallery - but that was before I went off road [did take some pics from inside but didn't work out because twas getting dark + dash reflection]
Just goin to sit down now and pour myself a nice large Laphroig
a great end to what started as a crap day....... always on the road less travelled 🚧
I took 3 x D3 full loads to the dump including a fridge, an 8 drawer chest, numerous bags/boxes/chairs etc......really impressed how the car swallows big bulky items whole!
oh, and fell out of it as I didn't realise how high the off-road height got!
now sitting infront of a roaring fire with a big 18yr old (macallan)

Reversed 5 feet, opened garage door, removed Xmas decorations from garage, drove forwards 5 feet.
But it was the best 30 seconds of the day.

Just looked out of the window at the D3 whilst recovering from the monster of all hangovers. Thought it best not to drive anywhere today Duncan

Visited the outlaws....took the pooches and the D3 half-way up Gray Hill near Lanvaches...275 metres above the Gwent Levels...climbed about 175 metres ...I was fooked but the view was absolutely stunning 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Trawled around Central Manchester - TWICE - fetching and carrying kids as usual!!!
Did see those infamous rising bollards (that trash idiots' cars on YouTube) though!!!Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
Dog decided to take himself for a walk in the woods behind the house after I let him out at 8am on a Sunday morning....... Couldn't resist the temptation of nipping into the woods in the car to find him
Later, I was out on some icy country roads and was amazed at the DSC as I tried to unsettle the car at 60mph with very little traction..... It seems that the DSC tries very hard at keeping the D3 in a straight line on an icy surface whilst you try to put it sideways!!!

I would strongly council all that when "there is no traction...there is no traction"........you can have all the technology you would like but when you encounter ice or any other extremely slippery surface....it has its limitations...that can bite 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
Got to concur with the above DG. Upon reading my post again I suppose it could look like I was suggesting the D3 is invincible on ice - which, of course, it isn't. The 'icy roads' in question were white frosted rough tarmac (which does provide a small measure of traction).
If it were solid ice then I wouldn't have been doing anything at 60mph.
Well...... I might have been, but I have another car for that, and it wouldn't be on a public road
