If we are not going to use the EU regs ...how many years is it going to be before the brexiteers decide the new British standard for lamps Whistle

Let's see..... it must be point 11,380,436 on the list of Teresa Mays document titled "Important things to get us out of the Censored " Rolling with laughter

I was very pleased to find a great replacement for the 32 halogen GU10’s at home. Its an exact copy in the colour of the light, the width of the beam and brightness. They even look physically identical which was important to me because I hate that cheap spotted yellow look of most LEDs. At 4.4W each, it means I’ve gone from 1600W to 141W.

Not cheap but great (and British):

….that was until my wife pointed out the noise they make !? Now I’m starting to notice that most LED lamps produce a very high pitched whine. You can only hear it if your ear’s right up next to them, but I’ve started to go around other peoples homes listening to their lights !!!

I use Philips Master GU10 bulbs. They don't hum and the colour and spread is identical to the old halogens. They also don't generate the heat either.

We had over 2950w of GU10 spots in the house and this has now dropped to 590w.

The key is to look at the 'colour' and the footprint /spread. We like 2700k.

These are what I bought but that was 18months ago so I'm sure they are cheaper.

Now if you bear in mind i'm one house and have reduced my consumption by 80%, just on my spots, if you multiply that up across the UK you can see how much of a reduction in consumption can be achieved.

Like it or loath in the EU has forced manufactures, whether they are automotive or electical etc etc, to make their products more energy efficient. However, consummers are lazy so they also need to be helped. By restricting the type of equipment and the amount of power it consumes has a big impact on reducing energy consumption.

…and, if we build our own nukes, wind turbines and allow fracking, we too can achieve energy independence. This will go a long way to securing our economic future while bringing some welcome change to global politics.

Energy, food, water, telecoms are all strategic neccesities and we need to keep the Chinese et al away.
