Quite unbelieveable my wife and I escaped without so much as a scratch.

Glad to hear you're both ok - but I bet your hearts were beating a tad fast
We were towing our boat down through France. I was doing about 55 - 60 mph when we got to the top of a long downhill stretch on the autoroute. The rig began to accelertare under its own weight and then started to snake as I gently touched the brake. This snaking got worse and worse until I lost control and the car tipped. All the air bags went off and the belts tightened which resulted in both of us having bruised ribs.
I have been towing largish boats for 34 years and never had this kind of experience.
I would be interested to know of other peoples ideas on how to control such snaking or whether the fault lay with the trailer set-up.

Glad you are both OK.
What is the weight of the boat and trailer?
Does the trailer have any type of stabiliser like the Winterhoff friction type that I have fitted to my caravan which is very good or can't you get them for trailers?
