Satnav updating itself

Hi all, this may seem an odd question but can a satnav update itsself? Our's no longer goes cross country on a new stretch of road at Stowmarket; the new road plus new junction are both now showing. The car was in for a service at Lindacre Ipswich two weeks ago but they say that no update was carried out and certainly not charged for.
Anybody got any ideas?

costs a hundred odd quid for the official update from LR. Been discussed on here quite recently.

If the road and junction were not there before the service, then IMO they have updated it. Perhaps it was on the job sheet by mistake, so they cannot charge,

You can find out the version by accessing the hidden screen. Go to destination

Where the word destination appears at the top of the screen hold your finger between the 2 T's in the word for a few seconds.

It will bring up the hidden screen you can now check the version and date.

As your is a 2011 car it will either be 2010 or 2011

If its later its been updated. Thumbs Up 1968 Series 2A

Thanks for the replies,
Tried the finger between the two Ts in destination but it does not work, I guess there must be a way of checking the version thats installed,

May have a different touch screen in ours its a very late 2010 build
