I thought they offered TP liability. I know that my local LR club is covered if we run over a walker off the lane (by accident). There are other "benefits" as well, but I could only remember the best one
just to be clear - i refer to anti 4x4 walkers and "help the aged runners", normal walkers, i have no issue withDuncan

If I'd known I was going to be so thirsty this morning I'd have drunk more beer last night.

That only applies if the club your a 'member' of is on the ARC approved list (Association of Rover Clubs). GLASS is not an ARC affiliated club.
We tried to register our little club (MMLRC) as an associate, and when we found out how many hoops we had to jump through, we gave up.

Just thought I should say thanks for all the input on this so far, please continue to add your thoughts and comments.
I've always maintained that DISCO3 shouldn't be a club as a club structure would be far too restrictive, and although it might make sense for some of what we do to be run as a club, a lot of what DISCO3 does couldn't happen with it being run as a club, or certainly wouldn't be as good/efficient/open/etc.
I am, however, taking legal advice on this issue and will report back.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

FYI
I am looking into personal insurance for when/if I organise another event. This cost will be past on to participants of that event. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

We don't want to be a 'club' Martin ...but you and the good people who organise events deserve to be protected IMHO 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
I am, however, taking legal advice on this issue and will report back.
It's a shame that it's necessary, but good-move Martin The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom
