Yes I've read that it's firewire - but no plugs would fit the port on the back of the nav-screen.
In fact - There's no firewire plug that even comes close to matching the port on the back of the Nav-screen. --> except, of course, for the factory in harness plug that came with the rover.
Also there is an adapter to convert Firewire to USB --> So at least there's a path to making this work....
Now the software.....that is another question
So this plug has all the connections - except perhaps another wire/ground to outer metal sheath, that could easily be added - It now can be adapted and plugged into a firewire port that is established/added
to a computer.
I basically knew that the USB wouldn't really find it..but since firewire is older-tech - I was hoping that our
new USB technology would somehow find a way using a USB --> Firewire or vise versa
I'm merely putting this out there as way to establish a connection to this port...that others who might know what wires go where (changing connection paths) can do so to get it to work via firewire port.

there are a lot of threads on this.
But the issue is that upgrade is VIN related and D4 screens can not regognise a D3 VIN.
Maybe someone has a fix for this????

Does anyone know how this screen upgrade interacts with the ACM?
I'd be very interested in this mod if I could see my iPod track names etc on the screen.
Any ideas?Goodness knows what I've let myself in for...

Had an issue 3 weeks ago whilst on the way to Spain, radio not working - no sound, volume control not doing anything either (ie not howling volume change on screen), but screen otherwise working normally.
Also the D4 screen was off, no LR logo, nothing, zilch.
Did a reset with the IID Tool and it worked for a coupe, of hours and then back to the same.
Had a look last weekend and found the MOST cable at the rear of the D4 screen appeared to have slipped out of the outer sheath a bit and was allowing the cable to bend too much, straighten out and all working again
This morning back to square one. Straightening the cable this evening does not fix the issue
Thoughts chaps?

Whilst I was at the dealer the other day getting my towbar looked at, I asked about the Firewire lead from the sat nav to the drivers footwell. Of course, they were a bit confused as to what I meant, but eventually they came back with a print out. It's from their catalogue for a 2010 D4 - Section 418-01/15K Electrical Wiring - Body and Rear, Audio/Navigation/Entertainment (from (V)CA000001).
There's a lead, part number 14D202 that looks interesting. Googling that number seems it's a Ford part as well.
If anyone has access to the catalogue and some more detail as to what it is, could they please have a look?

Im looking at upgrading my screen as current one is cracked.
While searching for the correct D4 nav unit I have stumbled across screens with different part numbers.
AH22-10E887-BD was mentioned on second page of this topic. Is it the only one that will work?
I have found:
BH22-10E887-BB
DH22 10E889 AC
AH22-10E887-DF
Which one will definitely work in D3?Disco 3 HSE (55) - gone
BMW x3 (62) x30d MSport - current

If you can, I'd try and get the AH22-10E887-BD. That's what I have. However I believe that the AH22-10E887-DF works too. Make sure it has two Fakra sockets on the back - one is for the GPS antenna, the other for the TMC antenna (branched off the FM antenna).

I think I told you a lie
I took a photo of the diagnostics screen this morning. As you can see, I have an AH22-14C233-BB.
Now I don't know if that corresponds with the sticker on the back - I'd have to dismantle the dash to find that out, but it looks like the BB version is OK too.
