Thanks Mike,
That is exactly where I had installed the plate at first.
From the picture I remember where the front tabs were
hitting the bottom of the bezel (red arrow)

Oh well I will give it another try when I have some time.
I was quite tired - if I recall the first time I tried this - I was too anxious and
excited to get this screen working in the first place.
Also my D3 bluetooth module works every time with the D3 BT-update from Gap (hats off to you guys)
However my phonebook (contacts) would never show on the nav screen.
Then I switched the MOST Ring Connections between the radio head unit and the nav screen
and - Voila - Now I get these contracts to show up occationally on the nav screen.
Doesn't make any sense though - speed of light - is the speed of light (MOST optic fiber)
I guess the positioning of the components might have something to do with confusing these displays from time to time (in the nav screen's favor).
Might also just be a coincidence, but it at least works now and then

No problem rOvercharged.
Hope it goes well and you get it all fitted ok.
Anyone sorted the clock issue yet?
Still can't change the time or date on my D4 screen and it is always an hour behind the correct time on my dash clock. Only reason I'd like it to be right is so the arrival time is correct on the nav.
Mike.

No, it can't take the clock time from the radio as it's different on a d4, so it defaults to the GPS signal time. This will be right 50% of the year..... Bodsys Brake Bible

Found some time yesterday to investigate this D4 screen fitment issue...
Found this supporting bracket that needed some modification to accommodate
the D4 screen with D3 bezel in place.

Don't know if this is year specific or not on the RRS (mine is an earlier model 2006)
But now it fits perfect with room the spare (before it actually fit but definitely under much pressure)
Also the D4 screen needed to be tilted back a tad to match the D3 screen as well...pushing it back further
Anyway, Thanks again to this fine forum and MBaker (Mike)
Final finished look -from the proper driving angle/side
Don't know what you call it in the UK but here in the states "rear entertainment"
Perhaps an alternative term could have been used instead?

Another happy D4 screen user!
Well done. Looks great.
Main thanks must go to Flack for getting this ball rolling.
Does anybody have the pin outs for connecting up the TV module in the D3 to D4 screen
I assumed it used the MOST cable but no picture so I guess I need 2 pins on the small 6 pin block connecting to something on the D3 plug??

I'll e-amil the wiring to you clive. Still not sure that they will both be recognised, although if the D4 module is only looking for the coax input, then you could be in luck. Not sure you'll be able to control the TV though through the D4 screen......Bodsys Brake Bible
I get sound & I can control it, just need a picture now

Cheers Wiggs. I thought as much. Can't see that there will be a way around that one. D4 Bluetooth unit maybe?
Nubber:
If you change the CD Unit option in the CCF from '6-disc CD Player' to 'autochanger' it should show on screen. Like I say, not fully functional though.
Mike.
Finally got round to trying this. Not much cop, is it? The CD player seems to get confused, and the volume control stopped working. I put it back to the way it was.

More for the cause...
Just in case there are some smarter software experts out there.....
I used a Male/female USB cable - that I modified in order to establish
a plug that would connect to the nav-screen update port on the back of my
2010 Nav unit.
Basically trimmed back the plastic surround on - then removed the metal sheath
See pictures for better Idea of how I went about this.
This fits perfect into the nav-update port.

My computer/labtop will bring up a message bar stating that it doesn't recognize this device...
I've tried different platforms - Windows 8, Win7, XP also in while in car, on bench power to nav-screen,
no power to nav screen...blah blah blah...
Tried updating the driver, uninstalling it, searching for other drivers...etc... but nothing
Anyway, I wanted to pass this on so if there are any of you out there that can tackle this software
challenge could do so...
My thoughts...getting the newer USB Nav-tech Regional Maps (USB Memory Stick that Nav-tech mails you with activation code)
Then updating maps by downloading this into the nav-screen port...
Of course this is - after Some Smarter/Wiser software programmer has solved the compatibility
issue with the computer.
Thanks, Good Luck & Anything to keep this thread alive

It's not a USB port - it's Firewire. You'll need either a PC with a firewire port, or maybe a Mac with a built in one.
Then of course, you'll need the software to update it - lord knows how to get hold of that!
