iPod integration?
Does the mod to the D4 Navigation also impact the iPod Connectivity? Would love to navigate the iPod playlists on the screen...
Probably just wishful thinking on my end

The D4 iPod intergration is done via diffeent bus controlled unit, so no it's is I believe on 2012- that they are visible on the screen, but the full D3 intergration kit still works fine, but the D4 head unit cannot see it due to no correct coms.
Wiggs or flack will confirm as one can't remember which is in a D4 FFRR SC 4.2

I wonder if I have found another side effect of changing to the D4 unit....
When in heavy rain, the windscreen wipers on Auto.
What used to happen, is that when I came to a stop, the wipers would stop and go intermittement wipe whilst stationary.
Yesterday, in the rain, it never did this at all. I wonder if there is some other communication to judge if I am moving that has been interrupted?
Its certainly no biggy, but wonder if anyone else can try it next time it's raining. Bodsys Brake Bible

I was out in the rain the other day with the wipers on auto. Apart from me occasionally cursing them when I wanted them to wipe and they didn't want to, I don't remember the operation being any different to before. I can't believe that the wipers took their speed signal from the pulse input to the DVD!
I'll keep my eye open the next time it rains. Not to day mind you - lovely sunshine!
Still no luck on the DAB GAP working on it But ... was DAB ever fitted to a D3? I don't think it was, but I'd love to be proved wrong. If it never was, then I don't think DAB will ever work, as the audio system won't know anything about it.

that why they need to make a multimedia software hack as I said , D3 never had Dab so the module does known what to do, justs need to have it told to open the Most circut for sound and to operate the scan funtions, not than biggy, just creation of the section in the brain of all the control set that the D4 unit had but in D3 lauguage that is the big bit.FFRR SC 4.2

I'm not so sure its that easy. I'm sure no one other than LR and their subcontractors have access to the source code of any of these devices. Hacking the odd configuration bit is one thing. Adding functionality is quite another. I speak as an inveterate hacker and software engineer
The d4 sat nav and the dab unit already know how to talk to each other as they are both from a d4. The question is what bits need setting in the ccf file to enable both of them to start communication, and how does the audio generated by the dab unit get recognised by the audio amplifier.
The nanocom ccf editor has entries for dab. I believe the US versions had satellite radio capabilities that were a separate unit like the dab unit is. So the capability probably exists. Whether it will work or not is another thing.
I think they will communicate via the Canbus network through the IHU and then the MOST to the screen, And because we can't use the canbus side of the D4 screen its a non starter, only my theory..

Well looking at the circuit diagram for the dab unit and remembering how it looked, it doesn't have a canbus connection so everything must come across the most bus.
Without knowing in some detail how devices behave on the most bus, its really suck it and see. I mean, the d4 sat nav obviously puts audio on the bus for the spoken instructions. At the same time, it reduces the volume of the radio. The amplifier obviously recognises the sat navy audio. But how does the mute work? Does the sat nav signal to the amp that it wants to "speak" and that all other inputs should be reduced in volume, or does the amp itself know that the sat nav has priority and it reduces volume on all other inputs?
With the dab unit on the bus, does it just output audio all the time and the radio tells the amp which stream to output, or do devices only output audio when told? I don't know. Be interesting to find out how it all fits together.
